A child is crying. That child is you.

Somewhere inside your adult being is a little person who wants to go back to a time of innocence, a time of peace, a place where it is safe and loved.

Can you help it?

Put aside your thoughts, your fears and worries. Forget about your need for money, security, importance. Be a little child again and find your true self, so neglected after all these years. Come back to a place of innocence.

Part One: The Flower of your Soul

Inside each person is a soul, a link to the infinite. Whether you are aware of it or not, it is there, and it is your link to a different reality. This reality will make you a better person, inside and out.

Find the flower. Open it up. Open up to it. Become one with the lost child. It is holding its arms out to you right now.

When you go deep inside, you will discover the real you.

How could you have drifted so far away?

Study the soul by staring at a flower. Meditate on each petal. Go inside the centre of its being and realize how fragile it is, yet how strong in life’s purpose. Everything in that flower is designed for one reason; to be and to grow and to share itself with the world.

That is your goal too.

But who wants a person like you? Nobody. Who wants the real you? Everybody.

You are more than you realize. Find that inner flower and grow into the perfect person, spiritually, connected to your soul, giving of itself, beautiful and alive.

Part Two: Be a Child Again.

Why would you ever want to return to childish behaviour? No, of course not. But childish is not the same as child-like.

A return to innocence means putting aside the cautious, scared, worried, selfish person that you have become from life’s struggles. It’s just life’s burdens and you need to put them all down. Just for a moment. Take the time to rediscover the child who loves to laugh and is happy just to be alive. Spontaneous. Joyous. Secure.

How can you feel that way in this world? You can. Re-create yourself. You can still be an adult to the world, but inside let your light shine, untarnished. Let it light up your life and those of everyone you meet.

For when your inner light shines, it cannot help but lighten everyone along the way. They will feel your essence, whether they know it or not.

The light touches everything it meets and makes them feel a part of Life.

Part Three: Take a Chance

When you were a child, you took chances. You were not afraid to try new things. If there was danger, you knew your mother or father would take care of you.

Feel that sense of innocence again. You know better than to jump in front of a truck, but take chances in other things. Speak to that shy person at work. Go out of your way to try something new, a different path, another way of doing things. Don’t be afraid of what people might think.

You are in this life for a reason. Find out what it is. You won’t get far staying close to the shore. Although it may seem safe, it’s actually the worse place you can be. Clinging to shore when the typhoon comes in may not be a good plan. Instead, seek higher ground.

If you are afraid to fail, you will. Cast out fear as if it were a fly. A nuisance. A part of your adult mind that has learned to be afraid of too many things.

Be brave. Don’t be careless, but be brave. Take a chance.

If you put your trust in a higher power, it will give you guidance and result in wonderful surprises and incredible growth along the way.

Climb over that fence, and see what’s on the other side. Enjoy the journey!

Part Four: Feel Alive!

There is nothing a child likes more than to run and play. To feel its body alive and moving. To put its head back and laugh like there’s no tomorrow.

Be that child. Do it. Enjoy yourself by doing things you love. Take up walking or skiing or playing dominoes, whatever makes you feel happy.

Invite others to join you, or join them. Happy people attract other happy people. We are not here alone. Share the joy.

What have you always wanted to do? Travel? Write a book? What is holding you back? Just do it! Put all your adult worries aside and just try it. What can it hurt?

When you go to your grave, at least you can say to yourself, “I did it!” Or at least you gave it your best shot.

So many people worry about what others think, or they worry they can’t afford it, or they don’t have time… or a million other reasons not to pursue their dreams. Don’t die with your dream still in you.

Take that boat and paddle it across the water to the other side. You may have just discovered the love of your life!

Part Five: Don’t Sell Out!

People always sell out. Children never do.

Here is a sand box with toys in it. Don’t think about it. Just go play!

The world is your sand box. It’s full of more toys than you have ever seen or imagined. Some of them are going to be the most fun you’ve ever had in your whole life. Don’t sell out to fear and rationalizations that keep you tied down. Be a child. Just do it.

How can you? How can you not?

Here’s the trick. Go deep inside and find your lost child. Dig it out of its burial ground and kick-start it into life again. Get it going. It just wants to live!

Whatever you can do to reestablish your hidden child-like essence, do it. Go fly a kite on the beach. Dance to music when nobody’s watching. Hold a pet in your arms and look into its eyes. There is innocence and trust. Be that.

There is innocence in an animal’s eyes and also infinity. They have no reason to be anything but what they truly are, pure and natural. Identify with that.

Part Six: Feel the Joy

Once you start feeling the joy of identifying with your inner child, you will never want to let it go. You may not be able to do it all the time, as life has its burdens, but at least be aware that it is a part of you that can be reclaimed at any time.

Go to a quiet place and stop the world from spinning, just for awhile. Feel the Zen of being here now. Nothing else. No thoughts. Just be.

This is a wonderful secret that all of us have to experience. It only takes a few moments of our busy lives to do this. Stop. Look. Listen. Be.

Practice this as often as you can. Feel the joy arise from your inner being and replace the worried and harried adult with a new person. That is the real you. Uncensored.

Follow that path and you will find joy beyond belief. It will help you in everything you do, in your work and play, in relationships and in life decisions.

The joy is worth finding.

The inner joy you feel will be an escape from the burdens of life and make you feel more alive than ever before. Enjoy!

Part Seven: Be true to yourself

No one knows you better than you know yourself. But what do you know?

Do you know who you really are inside that brave exterior? The mask you show to the world is nothing but a façade. Look deeper.

Inside you is a bright and rising star. Not of material gain, but of infinite spiritual delight.

Experience the joy of returning to your sweet innocence, the person you were born to be. That magical person is alive in you all the time, just waiting to be heard, to be felt, to be realized.

Feel the flow of love. Sense the joy within. Be a part of the universal truth. Your soul is forever in touch with that.

Reconnect. And never let it go again.

You were lost and now you are found. You. The real you. Perfect and loved.

The joy within.

You have returned to innocence and are a part of all that is.
