About This Book

After extensive research on the internet and print books, I have yet to discover another list or book of any sort like I am offering here, that contains a list of items one would normally have in their home. This list of household items are just common items and by no means represent a complete list for everyone. I am listing items that are common for Americans in a normal daily society for the year 2011. As a note, there are plenty of extra items on this list that you will probably not buy at first. Anyone can use this list to understand the types of items they need to start new. Feel free to print this book and research the prices of each item in your area and write them down next to the items so you can get an ideal of either the cost of normal replacement, the cost of starting a new life on your own or the cost of replacement for emergency or insurance purposes. Items are listed in random order as the importance of each item would be different for everyone. Enjoy and feel free to visit my author profile page at Smashwords.com for other books I have published. Other books in this series that are upcoming are "The 4 Week Budget Master" and "Quick Tips on Weight Loss".

It's great to train them early. One Christmas was ruined for the sake of saving hundred's of surprises later on.)

  2. Gun case that locks (I cannot stress the importance of having this out of sight of kids and visitors, and having it locked. Chapter 3...Vehicle Items

For general purpose there are certain items that one must carry with them in a vehicle. Some are obvious, some not so much. I live in a state where vehicle insurance is mandatory and certain items have to be in your possession at all times. Given that information, consider this list as a general list and if your state laws require something different, then follow the laws, not this list.

Glove compartment

  1. Small emergency kits for cuts

  2. Nail clippers (Scissors are considered a concealed weapon, but it never fails you get into a vehicle to go somewhere and you realize you need scissors or a set of clippers for a surprise hang nail. I'm thinking that driving tends to dry out your hands.)

  3. Vehicle registration receipt

  4. Proof of insurance

  5. Proof of vehicle inspection

  6. List of your closest friends or family phone numbers in case you have issues

  7. Number for your preffered tow company or repair shop

  8. Vehicle maintenance log

  9. Flashlight

  10. Spare fuses and spare mini bulbs

  11. Tissues

  12. Pen

  13. Paper

Trunk/Toolbox/Under the back seat

  1. Spare tire (If you have a pick up truck, you would generally have the spare tire hanging under the truck bed, which requires a special wrench to remove. If this is the case, then carry the wrench in this spot instead)

  2. Small toolbox of emergency tools

  3. Jack and lug wrench

  4. Flare gun

  5. Roadside sign to divert traffic

  6. Phone number for your local non emergency DPS office (Sometimes you might have to report an animal blocking a main roadway, but your not sure if it justifies calling 911)

  7. 1 gallon of water for emergency overheating

  8. 1 quart of oil

  9. Tissues

  10. Towel or paper towels

  11. Smell enhancer (you never know)

  12. Disposable camera for motor vehicle accidents
