After extensive research on the internet and print books, I have yet to discover another list or book of any sort like I am offering here, that contains a list of items one would normally have in their home. This list of household items are just common items and by no means represent a complete list for everyone. I am listing items that are common for Americans in a normal daily society for the year 2011. As a note, there are plenty of extra items on this list that you will probably not buy at first. Anyone can use this list to understand the types of items they need to start new. Feel free to print this book and research the prices of each item in your area and write them down next to the items so you can get an ideal of either the cost of normal replacement, the cost of starting a new life on your own or the cost of replacement for emergency or insurance purposes. Items are listed in random order as the importance of each item would be different for everyone. Enjoy and feel free to visit my author profile page at Smashwords.com for other books I have published. Other books in this series that are upcoming are "The 4 Week Budget Master" and "Quick Tips on Weight Loss".

Designate a spot in your closet for hiding presents ( I let my kids peak at Christmas one year and because the surprise was ruined for them that one time, they no longer go into my closet after August, every year, and they even ask if there's anything in there they don't want to see. It's great to train them early. One Christmas was ruined for the sake of saving hundred's of surprises later on.)
Gun case that locks (I cannot stress the importance of having this out of sight of kids and visitors, and having it locked. Most people are robbed by someone who has been at their home before, seen what they have first before they attempt a breakin. Kids just want to impress their friends in stupid ways, and it is your job to protect them from harm.)

Emergency cell phone with pre paid minutes (pre-paid generally picks up signal even from a cell tower that appears to be out of service, and pre-paid service can go anywhere out of your normal range and receive signal for this reason. If you have a phone these days with all the services, you will find it difficult to make a call if you have no working internet service. Some phones require a data package to make calls and without it, your call may not go through.)
Camping Equipment
Campers cooking set
Flare gun
For general purpose there are certain items that one must carry with them in a vehicle. Some are obvious, some not so much. I live in a state where vehicle insurance is mandatory and certain items have to be in your possession at all times. Given that information, consider this list as a general list and if your state laws require something different, then follow the laws, not this list.

Small emergency kits for cuts

Small toolbox of emergency tools
Jack and lug wrench
Flare gun
Roadside sign to divert traffic
Phone number for your local non emergency DPS office (Sometimes you might have to report an animal blocking a main roadway, but your not sure if it justifies calling 911)

Smell enhancer (you never know)
Disposable camera for motor vehicle accidents
