Is it weird to know the college that you are destined for at a young age? I don't think so. I have wanted to go to the same college ever since I was a little girl. That college is the University of South Carolina. I have spent countless hours on the internet looking up things about USC. It has such an appeal to it that it is almost addicting. I have a craving for education. Why do you think I started publishing stories at age fifteen? I am forever wanting to write essays, or poetry, or anything that has to do with science or biology. I want to go to the University of South Carolina to major in Biology and possibly minor in music and theatre education. I've always been involved in arts. Usc has a beautiful campus. It has the most spread out campus in South Carolina. Everything you need is around you. The university is located in Columbia, South Carolina. The University of South Carolina welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, whether freshmen from around the United States, transfer students from state technical colleges, international students from more than 100 countries, graduate students from other prestigious institutions, or students transitioning from one of the University's regional campuses to Columbia. USC has tons of new facilities coming up too. These facilities include the $22 million Arnold School of Public Health Research Center, the West (Green) Quad (the world's largest "green" dorm), the state-of-the-art Wellness and Fitness center, the Green Village's 20 fraternity and sorority houses, the 34,800-square-foot Dance and Marching Band facility, the Gamecock's new riverfront baseball stadium, and much more! The University is both raising its academic profile. Average SAT scores for the freshman class are up 86 points, to 1187, since 2001. South Carolina students have won $13.9 million in prestigious national scholarships and fellowships since 1994! In fact, the University was tied for 15th among national comprehensive universities, and tied for seventh among public universities for the number of Goldwater and Truman scholarships won in 2007. During the 2009-10 academic year alone, 53 awards totaling more than $1.8 million were won by students! Awards included Marshall, Rhodes, Truman, Goldwater, and Fulbright, among others. The University of South Carolina is my dream school. I hope to one day take on the opportunities, challenges, and discoveries that await me in the future!
