Musings while in traffic

By Ernest Winchester

Yesterday as I was returning from the VA, I encountered a serious backup on the H-1 and as luck would have it, I was near the exit to Middle Street. Taking it would mean going through downtown Honolulu but, being mid afternoon, that would be better than the mess that was evident on the H-1. As I went along through the light traffic, I came upon a green Acura, you know that putrid color that was so ubiquitous two decades ago, and I noticed a sticker on the trunk lid—it was too large for the bumper. I tried to read it but I didn’t want to tailgate the car, so I stayed behind it, hoping for a red light to stop it so I could get close enough to do so. Instead, I was caught in a red light just after the Acura passed through an intersection, so I thought it was a lost cause. Several blocks later, I again found myself behind the Acura and this time I got lucky. It was caught at a red light and I pulled behind it close enough to read it. It said, “If it wasn’t meant to be eaten, it wouldn’t be shaped like a taco.” I wonder what that means?
