Fragments:
A Collection of Short Poetry
Steph ‘Vixey’ Acaster
Fragments
Revealed by removing quibbles:
A neglected pile of scribbles
Sheets of random inspirations
Each with unknown implications
Just Look
See, when I hear
Rain on my roof
Reminds me that
The sky too, cries
But I am shielded
See, from its tears
Like the clouds
Don’t feel my fears
Then sun bleeds through
See the light they chase
Just for a while
The shade’s not my place
Phoenix
Like a bird flies
Through the light
Hiding scars
She can rise
Through the night
Hiding stars
Projections
Just a quick glance in my direction
Feels to me, like so much protection
Do I scare you, silent objection
Maybe it’s just my odd perception
Not by choice but my selection
Sorry, for now, you’re my connection
In such a time, full of defection
Oh, affection, are you a reflection?
Gravity
I know you don’t see me
I know you don’t hear me
But like the force that holds you there
You should know that I am here
This day
This morning, this day
I feel many things
The sky seems grey
You wonder what it brings
It’s not quite sunny
Like I’m not quite smiling
And it’s not quite raining
Like I’m not quite crying
I feel everything
On this day
And the sky does nothing
For this day
Empathy
Awaken,
Vague feeling
Of impending doom
Still hurts me too,
When I see it in you
All I can do is understand
And hold out a single, shaken hand
What on earth can I say?
I know how it feels,
To feel that way
But it fades,
Drifts away,
Sometimes
Metal Me
This is where nothing’s fixed or placed
Silver slipped through my hands in haste
Molten, look at the mess I made mine
In darkness, glints of metal shine
So free your heart, let me fly
Make paper planes and watch them die
Round, round, indefinitely round
Down, down, inevitably down
Who should I pretend to be?
Inexplicably, despicable me
