I remember when I first got this journal, not a diary. The cover may say diary, but I’m gonna call it a journal. As a matter of fact, I crossed out diary on the cover and on every page and wrote journal. There is actually a not so funny story behind that. Everybody else thinks it’s stupid, but I don’t see the humor in it. A while ago, I had to go to therapy because my mom said I had anger management problems (mainly because of my idiot brother Mitchell). So, they told me to write in a journal to vent my feelings instead of expressing them out loud. When my mom went to get one I told her specifically to get one that said journal and not diary. I guess she either forgot or just disregarded everything I told her. Now all I need is for the wrong person to get a hold of this and my life will be permanently ruined. Well, guess what happened.
It is summertime and today Brandon slept in late. Mitchell, his brother, tiptoed into Brandon’s room with a bucket of mysterious liquid in one hand and a camera in another. Brandon was laying there when Mitchell raised the bucket and dumped whatever it was that was in the bucket onto Brandon. He nearly jumped out of his bed when he felt the cold liquid splash across him.
“What the! What is this?” exclaimed Brandon. Mitchell could only stand there laughing, flashing as many pictures as he could.
Brandon yelled, “What is wrong with you?”
“Aww, did little Brandon wet his pants?” Mitchell teased while he continued to take pictures.
Brandon finally got up to try to take the camera from Mitchell. He reached for the camera and knocked it out of Mitchell hand, and it fell to the floor and shattered at his feet. They both looked down in shock as the little fragments slid across the wooden floor. All of a sudden Mitchell had Brandon pinned to the ground with his arm twisted behind his back.
“You’re gonna pay for me a new camera,” said Mitchell threateningly.
Brandon grunted, “And if I don’t what are you gonna do?”
Mitchell pulled on Brandon’s arm harder and said, “You are gonna buy me a new camera. You can tell mom and dad. I don’t care but you’re buy me a new one.”
“Stop man, you are hurting my arm,” cried Brandon.
Mitchell then stated, “I hope you know that I had to drink a lot of water to fill up that bucket.” He began to laugh.
“You are the most disgusting person on earth.” Brandon replied.
“And you,” said Mitchell, “are the wimpiest kid on earth.” Mitchell eventually let Brandon get off of the floor. As soon as he was up, Brandon smacked him in the face and ran into his mom and dad’s room. Mitchell was right behind him, but he couldn’t catch him before he got to their parents’ room.
Brandon yelled, “Mom, Dad. Mitchell almost broke my arm because he dropped his camera and broke it.”
“He is lying,” Mitchell blurted out.
“Can you too just cool it for just a second,” asked their mom sluggishly. “Okay, what happened?”
Brandon spoke before Mitchell could even think of what he was going to say. “Mitchell threw a bucket of pee on me.”
“You what,” asked their dad angrily.
“It wasn’t pee,” said Brandon, “I just told him that so he would freak out.”
Brandon then yelled, “You have to be the world’s biggest liar! He even told me that I was gonna buy him a new camera because he dropped his and it broke. He almost broke my arm because I said I wasn’t.”
“Okay, enough! Mitchell you are grounded for three weeks. I am tired of you two fighting. This is going to stop or I am going to ship you both off to boot camp so I wouldn’t have to deal with you,” exclaimed their mom. “Why do I get three weeks,” yelled Mitchell, “when he broke a camera that cost almost four hundred dollars?”
Brandon stood their making faces at Mitchell. Their dad said, “We are not gonna argue with you about this. The conversation is over. Now, get out of our room so we can sleep.”
Brandon laughed as Mitchell walked out of the room. He jumped at Brandon and almost hit him in the face as they went back to their rooms.
Brandon finished getting ready, wrote in his journal, and went downstairs to eat breakfast. He got a bowl of cereal and sat down at the table across from Mitchell. When he finished he got up and was headed to the door when he tripped and fell flat on his face. When he looked over he saw Mitchell’s foot sticking out from under the table.
While he got up off of the floor he said, “You are a punk and I hate you. I just wanted you to know that.” He then ran out of the house before Mitchell could hit him in the face.
Cassandra just got out of the shower when she heard a knock at her door. She went to open the door with nothing but a towel wrapped around her and saw Brandon standing there.
“How is my baby doing this morning?” asked Brandon as he eyed Cassandra up and down.
Cassandra replied, “In your dreams. You only wish you could have this. And what are you looking at?”
“I’m looking at you,” said Brandon.
“Then don’t,” said Cassandra disgustedly.
Brandon said, “Stop denying this connection--” Cassandra slaps Brandon in the face and he stares while rubbing his jaw.
Cassandra annoyed, “What do you want Brandon?”
“My brother beat me up again this morning. I need a place to crash for a while.”
“It is hard to believe that you two are brothers with the way ya’ll are always fighting,” replied Cassandra. “Okay. You can stay for a while, but Dana and Crystal are coming over in a few minutes. Brandon walked into the house and plopped down on the couch to watch TV. Cassandra went back into her room to finish getting ready.
A few minutes passed when someone else knocked on the door. Brandon heard the knock but chose to ignore it. They knocked on the door again, and Brandon yelled to Cassandra to come and get the door. She yelled back at him to answer the door. Then, someone banged on the door repeatedly.
While walking to the door she stated, “All you had to do was get up and answer the door you lazy bum.”
“Whatever,” mumbled Brandon. She then smacked him on the back of the head and opened the door. It was Dana and Crystal, two of Cassandra’s many friends. Cassandra pulled them into the house with extreme force as if she had to tell them something extremely important.
She then replied excitedly, “You will never guess what I heard.”
“Do ya’ll gossip every single minute of the day,” asked Brandon.
Crystal asked disgustedly, “What is that doing in your house.” She pointed to him indirectly. He still noticed who she talked about. She added, “Don’t you know that wild animals are supposed to be kept outside?”
“That was a nice one, but I saw your family at the zoo and they miss you. Why don’t you go back for a visit,” teased Brandon.
Crystal snapped, “Why don’t you--”
“Why don’t both of you just chill out for one second, please,” yelled Cassandra. “Okay, you will never guess what I heard. Lina is dating Randy.”
Dana replied, “Okay. Who is Randy?”
“You don’t remember Randy? The bully from school. He’s kinda fat, gotta big head, dark skin. He’s not really good looking Come on, you remember Randy,” said Cassandra.
Dana said, “Oh yeah, I remember him. Are you serious? That’s disgusting.”
“Well, that’s what I heard,” said Cassandra.
“Wow. I can’t believe that you guys are gossiping about your own friend. What kind of friends does that make ya’ll,” said Brandon disgusted.
Crystal then retorted, “Did anybody ask you to say anything Mr. I think I know everything?
“Nobody had to ask me anything. I can talk when I wanna talk,” snapped Brandon.
“Will you two cool it. I am tired of the fighting between ya’ll,” yelled Cassandra.
“You know what, I don’t need this. I am outta here. You guys are all just hypocrites anyway,” said Brandon. He got up and walked out of the house and someone slammed the door as soon as he was out.
While Brandon walked home he spotted Randy on the street. He tried to find another way around to avoid him, but it was too late. He was spotted.
“Well, look who it is. Mr. Wimpy Kid in the flesh. How’s your summer going,” teased Randy.
Brandon replied, “It was going great until I saw your ugly face again.”
Randy exclaimed, “Dude, there is something behind you!” Brandon spun around quickly to see what it was. Within the next second or two Brandon was on the ground with his arm twisted behind his back just like that morning. Mitchell and Randy were sort of friends.
‘”I can’t believe you fell for that one,” said Randy. “You are without a doubt the dumbest boy I have ever met.”
“Even dumber than you,” replied Brandon as he struggled to get loose. Randy then lifted Brandon onto his feet.
“You know what? I am not gonna break your arm because then I might end up in jail or something,” said Randy.
Brandon was still struggling when he said, “That is a great decision. Maybe you are not dumb after all.”
“But do you know what I’m gonna do, though,” asked Randy. Then all of a sudden Brandon
felt a sharp pain and heard what sounded like clothing ripping.
Chapter 2
Brandon walked into his house repeating the word ouch while he tried to get the wedgie out. He walked past the living room and Mitchell looked over at him started laughing.
“What happened to you?” he replied.
Brandon said, “I bumped into your friend Randy on the street today and he gave me the worst wedgie you could ever imagine.”
“I wish I could’ve been there to see your face when it happened,” Mitchell teased.
Brandon retorted, “Yeah, maybe you and Randy can team up and go around terrorizing kids for no apparent reason. That sounds like a great job for the two of you. Mitchell jumped off of the couch to get in Brandon’s path.
“Maybe we should. And you know who would be the first person we would beat?” asked Mitchell.
Brandon rolled his eyes and asked, “No, who?” Mitchell took a few seconds to answer and then
exclaimed, “You!” and jumped at Brandon. Brandon flinched and ran into his room and locked the door. Brandon grabbed his journal and flopped down on the bed and began to write.

Tuesday: Earlier today I went to my friend Cassandra’s house, where of course I was still being made fun of and beaten up. Then, when I left, I bumped into dirt-for-brain Randy, the school bully. He almost broke my arm, then he gave me a wedgie that almost tore through my butt bone. Then, when I got home my retard brain of a brother almost beat me up again. I officially hate my life.
Brandon hid his journal and flopped back down on the bed and started daydreaming. After a few minutes, the phone rang.
Brandon answered it and it was Lina calling to see if he was still having a party when his parents go out of town tomorrow. Brandon was confused. Then Lina told him that Mitchell said that they were having a party. Brandon told her that he would call her back, hung up the phone, and went back to the living room where Mitchell was.
Brandon asked, “Who said we were having a party tomorrow night? Mom and dad will kill us if they found out anything about there being a party going on while they were gone. And why I am the last person to find out about this party?”
“First of all,” refuted Mitchell, “shut up. You are talking loud enough for them to hear us. And stop being such a wimp. Mom and dad will never find out about this party and I didn’t tell you because I didn’t have to tell you.”
“We are not having a party,” said Brandon disapprovingly.
Mitchell quickly got off of the couch and into Brandon’s face and threateningly said, “I say we are having a party and there is nothing you can do about it. You can run and tell mom and dad all you want, but if you do, believe me, I will find a way to use that against you.” Mitchell then went back to the couch and continued to watch television.
“Okay, whatever. Do what you want. I won’t be here when you have this party,” said Brandon as he walked out of the room. Mitchell was right behind him and stopped him in the middle of the hallway.
“You might as well stay because all of your friends are coming. You have no other place to go,” Mitchell persuaded. “Stop being such a sissy and stay for the party. We won’t get in trouble. If we get caught I will take all of the blame.”
Brandon said, “Right, like I’m gonna believe that.” Brandon thought about it for a few seconds. “Okay, I’ll stay, but don’t expect me to help you with anything because I won’t”
“Whatever, dude,” said Mitchell as he walked back to the living room.
Brandon walked to his bedroom and got back in bed. The phone rang as soon as he is about to fall asleep.
Brandon answered annoyed, “Who is it?”
Lina replied, “It’s me Lina. You were supposed to call me back. What’s going on?”
“Calm down. The party is still on, okay,” said Brandon anxious to hang up the phone.
“What kind of food are ya’ll having,” asked Lina. “My parents are getting tired of cooking for me.”
“Wow, you are so fat. You will find out what we are gonna have tomorrow night, when we have the party, okay.” Brandon then hung up the phone and drifted off into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, at Randy’s house Lina and he were discussing their plans. They were just laying around the house watching television.
Randy questioned, “What did that wimp say?”
Lina replied, “He said they were still gonna have it.” Randy looked very pleased with that answer.
“Good, my favorite part of the day is pounding on the little wimp. Tomorrow is the best time to give him what he deserves,” Randy replied.
Lina proposed, “But his brother is gonna be there. Don’t you think he is gonna help Brandon fight you?”
“If he does,” said Randy, “I don’t care. I’ll just give him a little something, too!”
Lina replied, “Whatever, I just can’t wait because I know they are gonna have some slammin’ food at that party. I am gonna to taste every single dish.” Randy looked at Lina with disgust.
He finally said, “Is all you think about is food?”
Lina thought of a sarcastic comment, “No, sometimes I think about milkshakes and other types of drinks.” She laughed to herself.
Randy rolled his eyes at her and replied, “Shut up.”
Chapter 3
Brandon was finally happy that the day was over with, but another dreadful one was quickly approaching. That next morning, their parents had already left to go on their trip. Mitchell walked into Brandon’s room and sat on the bed beside him. He waited, then suddenly he shook Brandon awake. Brandon woke up completely surprised and again almost fell out of his bed.
“Dude, guess what,” said Mitchell, “you slept through the entire summer and today is the first day of school.”
Brandon asked surprised, “Are you serious?”
“Yeah! There were some awesome parties this summer and you missed all of them.” exclaimed Mitchell.
Brandon replied, “Well, why didn’t you wake me up?”
“I thought I would do something nice and let you sleep because you looked really tired,” said Mitchell. He then got up and walked out of the room. Brandon jumped out of bed and franticly got ready for school. When he was done he ran downstairs and waited outside for the bus.
Twenty minutes passed and the bus hadn’t come yet. Mitchell hadn’t come out of the house yet. Brandon went back into the house, and then to Mitchell’s room. When he stepped into his room Mitchell was asleep in bed.
“Mitchell, I thought you said school starts today? What are you doing in bed, school starts in twenty minutes?” asked Brandon.
Mitchell answered him sluggishly, “What? No I didn’t. Summer break isn’t over for another two months.”
Brandon replied, “Then, why did you say--.” Mitchell began to laugh and got out of bed.
“You are so stupid. Even the dumbest of people wouldn’t have believed that, but then again you may be dumber than them,” Mitchell teased. Brandon reached out to slap Mitchell when he caught his hand in mid-air.
Squeezing tighter and tighter, Mitchell said, “You could try, but I will twist your arm up again, but this time I will break it.”
Brandon pulled his arm loose and said, “I hate you and I hate that we are even from the same species,” and walked out of the room.
“That is a good to know because I am not your biggest fan either, wimp,” yelled Mitchell. Brandon walked back into his room and took out his journal and began writing.

Wednesday: This morning, Mitchell played another prank on me. He woke me up saying that I slept through the entire summer and today was the first day of school. Like an idiot, I believed him. So, I got ready and went outside to catch the bus and waited for 20 freakin’ minutes. I can’t believe I fell for that. I wonder if genies or fairy godparents are real so I could wish I wasn’t born into this family so Mitchell wouldn’t have to be my brother.
Mitchell came to Brandon’s door and told him that he was going to buy some stuff for the party.
“I’ll be back in a few minutes. Don’t go in my room or touch anything that is mine.” Brandon mumbled ‘whatever’ under his breath.
Brandon was so ticked off at Mitchell that he had to do something to truly make him mad. So, he went into Mitchell’s room and looked for anything that was very valuable to Mitchell. He finally found Mitchell’s collection of video games and took them and hid them in his room.
“That’ll teach him to pull a prank on me again. He’ll freak out when he can’t find ‘em,” said Brandon sneakily. Suddenly, he heard the door downstairs.
Mitchell was back at the house with a bunch of food. He went to the kitchen and put it down.
Brandon asked, “Who is coming to this stupid party anyway?”
Mitchell replied, “Lina, Cassandra, Dana, Crystal, and a few other people, too. And you will never guess who is also coming. Your best friend, Randy.”
“Why would you invite him,” Brandon asked aggravated. “He has been picking on me since forever, and you have given him the perfect opportunity to actually kill me this time.”
Mitchell explained, “That’s the whole reason for me inviting him over here tonight.” Mitchell was pleased with the reaction he got from Brandon.
“What kind of brother are you?” asked Brandon.
“The kind that bullies his little brother for fun,” replied Mitchell. Mitchell finished setting up and went to his bedroom to get ready for the party. Suddenly Brandon heard of scream.
“Oh my God!” exclaimed Mitchell.
Brandon inquired, “What are you yelling about?” Brandon already knew what was going on.
“Where are my games at? I had them all beside my game system.” Mitchell steamed.
“What are you talking about?” asked Brandon. Mitchell then ran and grabbed Brandon by the collar of his shirt.
He then replied, “Where are my games? I know you took them.”
“I didn’t take anything of yours. Now let me go,” demanded Brandon. He struggled to get loose and broke free of Mitchell’s grasp. All of a sudden there was a knock at the door.
“You go answer the door, while I finish getting ready. We will continue this discussion later,” said Mitchell.
Chapter 4
Brandon went and answered the door and was not surprised by their first guest. It was Lina and she was ready to party.
“Time to party,” she exclaimed. “Where is the food?” He looked at her with disgust and let her in. After a while, Mitchell finally came downstairs. People continuously showed up for the party for at least twenty minutes straight. Mitchell thought the party was going great.
Mitchell told Brandon to sit down with them in the living room. He had a surprise for him. Mitchell left out of the room and came back with an unexpected surprise. Randy stalked into the room behind Mitchell.
“Guess who,” said Randy, “I bet you didn’t count on your worst nightmare showing up to your party, in your house. Did ya, wimp?”
“You got one thing right. You face is what you call a nightmare. Are you the Boogeyman or Freddy Krueger?” replied Brandon.
“So the wimp has a sense of humor. I will be sure to beat that out of you when I get the chance and you better believe the chance is closer than you think,” said Brandon. Randy pushed Brandon out of the way and disappeared into the crowd. The night progressed and the party continued. It was about midnight when all of the drama started.
Brandon asked Mitchell, “Have you seen Lina and Randy. I can’t find them anywhere.”
Mitchell replied, “I think they said something about going to you room to do something.”
“What? Why would you let them go to my room? Randy hates me and he could find something to ruin my life,” yelled Brandon.
Mitchell retorted, “I don’t care. Maybe you should not have stolen my games and hid them. Maybe then I would have stopped them.” Brandon almost slapped Mitchell. He held back and quickly ran to his room. He hid outside in the hallway beside his doorway listening to what was going on in his room.
He then heard Lina when she said, “You’ll never guess what I found.” He then heard an unrecognizable sound. “That little sissy has a diary and he writes in it like every day.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me. That little twerp keeps a diary?” asked Randy, amused. “Wow, there is some juicy information in here.” Brandon sprinted into the room.
Brandon yelled, “What are you doing in my bedroom?” He sees the journal in Randy’s hands and tries to snatch it. His attempt was unsuccessful.
“Give me back my journal, you jerk,” demanded Brandon.
“Give me back my journal,” teased Randy mockingly. “Only wimps carry diaries.” Brandon tried to grab the journal again but was still unsuccessful. Randy opened the journal to the last page as if he were about to read the entry.
“Wow, there is some juicy stuff in here. Here’s a nice one and recent, too,” Randy taunted and he began to read, “Wednesday: Today I woke up and felt like someone dumped some water on me. When I got out of bed, I realized that I had wet the bed. So, I pulled my bed sheets and comforter off my bed and put it in the washing machine without anyone knowing. Then--.”
“Put my journal down right now and get out of my room,” threatened Brandon.
“That’s a good one. Maybe I’ll put it on MySpace,” said Randy.
Lina said, “Whoa, I can’t believe you still wet the bed. How old are you?” Brandon tried to snatch the journal from Randy’s hand again. This time he grabbed it, but Randy wouldn’t let it go.
“Let go of my journal, Randy,” demanded Brandon.
“Make me let it go, wimp,” replied Randy.
“Yeah, make him put it down,” Lina yelled.
“Will you shut up. I don’t think I need an echo,” said Randy to Lina.
There is a tug-of-war going on between Randy and Brandon, and the journal was the rope. Suddenly, something unsuspected happened. Brandon swung at Randy with his other hand and punched him in the jaw. Randy let go of the journal and rubbed his jaw. Then, he finally snapped back into his own mind and threw an extremely forceful punch at Brandon’s stomach. Brandon fell to the floor with his hands on his stomach.
Meanwhile, back downstairs at the party everyone heard a strange noise coming from upstairs.
“What was that?” asked Cassandra
“Probably nothing, but somebody go check it out anyway,” said Mitchell.
Crystal then answered, “I’ll go.” Crystal went upstairs and checked in every room until finally she got to Brandon’s room and saw him lying on the floor being kicked in the stomach by Randy.
“Oh my God!” exclaimed Crystal, “Somebody get up here. There is a fight going on.”
Suddenly everyone at the party stormed up the stairs and into Brandon’s room. Mitchell was the last one to get up there, so he had to push through the crowd to see who it was that was fighting. Brandon was still there on the floor being kicked in the stomach by Randy.
Then Dana asked horrified, “Aren’t you gonna do something?”
“Let him fight his own battles. This is his fight not mine,” said Mitchell.
“That’ll teach you to ever hit me again,” yelled Randy as he continued to kick Brandon.
“I can’t believe you would sit there and let that jerk beat up your little brother,” yelled Crystal to Mitchell.
Mitchell steamed, “If you’re so concerned, then you help him.” He walked out the room.
“I will,” yelled Crystal to Mitchell down the hallway. Crystal ran and got between Randy and Brandon to try and break up the fight. Randy slapped Crystal and pushed her down.
Lina was horrified, “Stop it Randy. You are taking it a little too far. You just slapped Crystal. You are about to kill Brandon. This wasn’t part of the plan.” She had gotten through to Randy.
Randy stooped down beside Brandon on the floor and said, “She just saved your life. Hopefully, you learned something from this. You better not ever mess with me if you know what’s good for you.” He grabbed the journal and said, “And I’m taking this with me.”
The kids cleared the way as Lina and Randy walked out of the room and out of the house.
Someone screamed, “Someone call the 911!”
Brandon was still on the floor when suddenly he went blank.
Chapter 5
Brandon woke up in a hospital with his stomach wrapped completely in bandages. He tried to sit up but was in too much pain. Everyone was there, Crystal, Cassandra, and Dana. He thought, of course Mitchell wouldn’t show his face. Because of all the pain he was in, Brandon went back to sleep.
Brandon was in the hospital for three days, most of which he spent his time sleeping. Finally, it was time for him to go home. His parents were still out of town and he was thankful for that.
When Brandon walked into the house, Mitchell was watching television in the living room. Mitchell didn’t try to help Brandon up to his room.
Brandon said, “Wow, I have never seen anybody as selfish as you.” Mitchell turned and glanced at Brandon and continued to watch television. Brandon became angry and walked and stepped in front of the TV so Mitchell couldn’t see.
“Get out of the way,” yelled Mitchell.
“I can’t believe that you didn’t help me. What kind of brother are you?” Brandon ranted.
Mitchell responded dully, “You are old enough to fight for yourself.”
“That is a bunch of crap. Do you not see how big he is compared to me? How am I supposed to fight back against someone that big and be kicked in the stomach over and over?” yelled Brandon.
“You could have found a way,” said Mitchell.
“Oh my God! I can’t believe you,” exclaimed Brandon. “All of this over a few lousy video games. Remind me not to take anything else from you. I may end up dead next time.”
“Stop being so melodramatic,” said Mitchell.
“Do you have any feelings?” asked Brandon. There was total silence in the room. “Okay, let’s see how you’ll feel when I call mom and dad and tell them everything that happened.”
Mitchell replied, “I can’t believe you are being such a wimp about this.”
“So, I’m the wimp, but you’re scared to get into trouble with your own parents,” said Brandon. “I guess you do have a feeling. Fear. And guess what, I don’t care because I am still telling mom and dad.”
“Whatever, do what you want,” replied Mitchell.
Brandon walked upstairs to his room and picked up the phone and swiftly dialed his dad’s phone number. It rang a few timed before he answered.;
His dad answered, “Hello?”
Brandon said, “It’s me, dad.”
Dad said, “What is it, Brandon? Is everything okay at the house?”
“No, everything is not okay,” replied Brandon.
Dad wondered, “What is going on, Brandon.”
Brandon took a deep breath and blurted out the entire story, “Mitchell threw a wild party a few days ago and he invited this bully who is always picking on me at school. He beat me up really bad while Mitchell just sat there and watched. I had to stay in the hospital for three days because they had to make sure he didn’t break ay bones.” Brandon panted.
Suddenly all he heard was dad yelling, “He did what?”
Their mother’s voice came from the background, “What is going on?”
“Pack your bags. We are leaving now,” said their dad.
“Why are we leaving?” asked mom.
“I’ll tell you on the way,” answered dad. He came back on the phone, “You tell Mitchell that we are on the way home right now. And, as soon as we get there, he is grounded until further notice.” The phone went dead.
Brandon said, “Hello? Mom, dad?” Then he hung up the phone. “I’ll let that be a surprise for Mitchell.” Brandon thought for a while. Then, he found where he hid Mitchell’s games and got them. He walked downstairs to the living room where Mitchell was still watching TV. He got back in front of the TV and dropped Mitchell’s games on the floor in front of him.
“I thought I’d do something nice for my supposed older brother, who doesn’t help his little brother in a fight against a person two times his size,” said Brandon sarcastically and walked back upstairs to his room. Too tired to write in his journal, he lie gently on the bed and quickly fell asleep.
Back at Randy’s house Lina was in frenzy.
“Will you shut up? He is still alive and Crystal will be okay. It’s not like I meant to slap her,” said Randy.
“It doesn’t matter if you meant to slap her or not. You still did,” yelled Lina as she paced. “She and everybody else don’t know it was a mistake. She could call the police. Any of them could.”
Randy responded, “Will you calm down? If they were gonna call the police, they would have by now. It’s been three days. Besides, that little wimp is too afraid of me to call the police.”
Lina, trying to calm herself, replied, “Okay, I guess that makes sense.”
“Just calm down,” Randy persuaded, “Everything will be fine. You should really work on that problem you have with overreacting.”
Lina smiled and laughed, “Shut up!”
The next day, Brandon’s parents were home and Mitchell was very surprised when he was grounded for three months.
Brandon went to pay Cassandra a visit. Cassandra heard someone knock at the door, and to her surprise it was Brandon.
“What are you doing out of the house? You’re supposed to be in bed,” she said to Brandon. She let Brandon in and guided him to the couch.
He then said, “I have the perfect plan to get Randy back.”
“No, I don’t want to hear this,” she said as she covered her ears.
Brandon pulled her hands down and said, “Could you just listen to me for a minute?”
“I can’t believe you are even considering messing with Randy again. Do you have a death wish?” she ranted.
“I promise it isn’t gonna involve fighting,” persuaded Brandon, “But, I am gonna need everybody’s help.”
She replied, “When you say everybody, who exactly do you mean?”
“You, Crystal, Dana, and…Lina,” Brandon answered.
Cassandra was astounded, “Why would you even ask Lina to do anything? She helped him beat you up.”
“My plan won’t work if Lina isn’t in it,” said Brandon.
“Okay, but don’t expect too much from me. I am still against this entire thing,” Cassandra replied.
Later that day much activity was happening at Brandon’s house. Someone knocked on their door. Mitchell answered and he saw that Lina, Cassandra, Crystal, and Dana were all outside.
“What do you want?” asked Mitchell.
“Brandon told us to come over,” said Lina and she pushed Mitchell out of the way. Everyone entered the house.
“For what?” Mitchell inquired.
“None of your business,” Crystal replied.
“Brandon, your dorky friends are here,” yelled Mitchell as he went to his room.
“I’m up here,” yelled Brandon from his room upstairs. Everyone went upstairs to Brandon’s room where he planning his plan to get back at Randy. “I have the perfect plan,” he said as everyone took a seat.
Mitchell was outside Brandon’s room listening in on what they were talking about.
Brandon continued, “Lina, I haven’t forgiven you for what you did, but you are a crucial element to this plan.”
“I don’t think I can do this,” Lina complained.
“But, you are closest to Randy. You could at least do this for me. You owe me more than that,” said Brandon.
“Okay, I’ll try,” she said giving in.
Brandon dictated, “I need you to get Randy to tell you some of his most embarrassing secrets. Can you do that?”
Lina complained, “I know that I am his girlfriend, but what makes you think he tell me anything that private? He barely tells me anything now.”
“You have to find a way to get him to tell you,’ said Brandon.
“I don’t know. I don’t want to hurt him like that,” said Lina.
Crystal interrupted, “You’ve got to be kidding me. He’s a bully. He hurts people for a living. I already know that he has hurt you and yet you continue to want to be with this monster. Wow!”
Lina yelled, “Shut up! You don’t know anything about my relationship.”
Brandon jumped in, “What is going on?”
Lina replied, “I know he cheats. I know he doesn’t pay attention to me, but I love him. I will always love him.”
“Lina, you are a kid. How could you love someone like that?” reasoned Crystal. “Why would you want to stay with someone you know doesn’t love you?”
Lina thought about this for a while. “You know what? I can do this. I don’t have to take this from him. Count me in.”
Brandon, satisfied, said, “Okay. When we get the information back from Lina, we will all find a way to use it against him.”
“What makes you think that he won’t hurt us afterwards,” Cassandra asked.
Brandon responded, “Because if we find out something that will ruin his life, we can use it to blackmail him. If he doesn’t do what we want him to do we can spread the story. He will be so embarrassed that he won’t bother to show his face.”
“Okay, let’s do this,” yelled Cassandra.
Dana interrupted, “Wait just one minute. Why are you doing this? It is so childish and we should just forget the entire idea.”
Brandon reasoned with Dana, “Did you see the way he beat the crap out of me the other day? Now imagine if he got hold of someone smaller than me. He might end up killing someone and he wouldn’t even care.”
Dana refuted, “That’s your theory.”
“That’s anyone’s theory,” Brandon replied.
Dana responded, “I still think this is a bad idea.”
Brandon was angry, “Then leave, we don’t need you here if you aren’t willing to help.”
Dana said, “That is the best idea you had the entire time.” As she walked to the door she muttered, “I have better things to do with my time anyway.”
Mitchell, who was standing outside of Brandon’s room, heard Dana coming and ran and hid in a closet in the hallway. She passed right by and didn’t notice. An idea to help Brandon popped in Mitchell’s thoughts. But, in a split second the thought left his head. Back in Brandon’s room, more problems were beginning to surface.
“If there is anybody else who doesn’t want to do this, please leave now,” Brandon demanded.
Crystal got up, “I’m like Dana. I’m not doing this. I’m not gonna risk getting hurt for anyone, but me.” She got up and left.
“Anyone else?” asked Brandon. There is no reaction from Lina and Cassandra. “Okay then. Lina, you go to Randy’s and get him to spill. Me and Cassandra will be outside of his house. Make sure you leave the door open. We will signal you with an owl noise. Then, we want you to distract Randy so we can sneak in and hide. Then, we can use the camera to get what we need.”
Lina asked, “Okay, got it. Let’s do this.”
Chapter 6
The plan was in motion. Everybody was in place at Randy’s house. Lina knocked on the door and was greeted like she was a bill collector.
Randy answered the door annoyed, “What do you want?”
“Wow, I can’t come over anymore,” Lina said feeling insulted. She went in the house with Randy making sure that she left the door cracked. She took him into the kitchen so that he couldn’t see the front door.
“I just wanted to come over,” said Lina.
“Why?” asked Randy.
Lina answered, “I just want to talk.”
“Ugh. Here comes the feelings and the relationship stuff,” said Randy disgusted.
Outside, Brandon made the signal. Lina heard and kept Randy distracted. Cassandra and Brandon crept into Randy’s house unnoticed and hid in a closet in the living room. The left the door cracked so that the camera lens could see in the outside room. Lina brought Randy back into the living room.
Randy said, “Okay. If I talk to you will leave.”
Lina, very excited, answered, “Sure. Let’s start with getting to know each other better. What is the most embarrassing secret you have?”
In the closet, Brandon began recording their entire conversation.
“Next question,” retorted Randy.
Lina said, “I am not leaving until you answer any question I have for you.”
“Okay,” Randy interrupted. “You better not tell anyone about this or I will literally kill you.” He exhaled sharply. “When I was younger I had what you could call a bad experience with this clown at a party. I don’t know what it was about him, but he literally scared the crap out of me. I mean, I crapped my pants in front of everybody. It took years for people to forget, but they forgot. Till this day, though, I am deathly afraid of clowns. I can’t even watch a movie with a clown in it. That’s how bad they scare me.”
There was a long pause until Lina couldn’t control her laughter.
Randy was enraged, “It’s not funny!”
“I can’t believe clowns can’t freak out someone as big as you,” she said laughing under her breath.
Randy responded, “Everyone has a weakness, you know. Clowns are mine.”
“Whatever, dude,” Lina replied. She pretended as if she heard a noise in another room. “Did you hear that?”
“Hear what?” asked Randy.
She responded, “I heard something in the back. We need to go check it out.”
They got up and went to the other room. As soon as they were out of sight, Cassandra and Brandon ran out of the house. A few minutes later, Randy and Lina came back into the room.
Lina replied, “Alright, I gotta go. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“If you tell anybody what I just told you, I will hurt you. Believe what I’m saying,” Randy threatened.
Lina replied as she walked out the door, “Whatever, I’m out of here.” The door closed behind her as she left.
The next day has come and Brandon is very pleased that his plan was going great, so far. He went over to Cassandra’s house. With him was Lina. Cassandra let them in and they began working on the next step in their plan.
Cassandra asked, “Do you have the camera?”
Brandon answered, “Yeah.” He gave it to her. “We’ll call Randy and get him to meet us somewhere. We’ll use the video to get my journal back and so he’ll leave everybody alone.”
Cassandra said, “Lina, you don’t have to come with us if you don’t want to.”
Lina replied, “I know it’s dangerous for me, but I’ll go because I’m tired of being scared of him. He needs to know that he can’t bully everyone.”
Brandon said, “Okay. So, Cassandra will call him and let him know what to bring and where to meet us.”
“Alright, let’s do this,” said Cassandra. She picked up the phone and called Randy.
“Hello,” answered Randy.
“I got something you might want to see,” dictated Cassandra.
“Who is this?” asked Randy.
“Don’t worry about who this is,” said Cassandra.
“Okay, then. What if I just hang up the phone?” asked Randy.
“If you don’t cooperate with us, no one will ever be afraid of you ever again,” Cassandra threatened.
“Cooperate,” Randy hesitated. “What are you talking about?”
“Meet me at the corner of Wailon and North Forest and bring that journal you stole from that kid the other day,” said Cassandra.
“And if I don’t,” said Randy.
“Then you will regret that decision,” answered Cassandra.
“Okay. When do you want me there?” asked Randy.
“Be there today at 2 p.m. or there rest of your life will be so miserable you wouldn’t be able to stand it,” threatened Cassandra.
“I’ll be there,” Randy said before he hung up the phone.
Cassandra hung up the phone and said, “He gonna come and he gonna bring the journal.”
Brandon responded, “Okay. The plan worked. I guess we just sit around her until 2.”
Chapter 7
Lina, Cassandra, and Brandon are at the corner of North Forest and Wailon awaiting the imminent arrival of Randy. No one knew what was about to happen. Suddenly, they heard footsteps coming from behind them. Everyone turned around expecting Randy but was completely shocked at who they did see.
Brandon was the most surprised, “What are you doing here?”
“I felt bad about the other night and I gonna help,” said Mitchell.
Everyone’s mouth fell open. No one knew that Mitchell was capable of love, let alone feelings.
Brandon said, “Thank you. I knew my brother wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me.” He moved in to give Mitchell a hug.
“Yeah,” Mitchell said as he pushed Brandon away, “I don’t do that lovey dubby stuff. So, get off of me.”
Everyone was still in shock as to what was taking place. Then, everybody snapped back into reality.
Cassandra asked, “You okay, Lina.”
“Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. I can’t be scared forever.”
That’s when Randy finally walked into the scene. He was totally shocked to see who it was that was threatening him.
Randy finally responded, “So, it was you who was doing this.”
Brandon ignored him, “Did you bring what we asked for?”
“Yeah,” answered Randy, “But, what makes you think I am gonna give it to you.”
Brandon said, “Because we have something that can ruin your life.” He grabbed the camera from Cassandra and showed it to Randy.
“What is that?” asked Randy.
Brandon played the video for Randy and he became instantly enraged.
“How did you get this,” Randy asked angrily.
Lina spoke, “I helped out a little. Thanks for the info. Too bad we are gonna have to use it against you.”
Randy directed his anger towards Lina, “I am gonna kill you for this.” He started towards Lina with his fists balled up. Suddenly, Mitchell jumped in the way.
Randy was dumbfounded, “Mitchell, what are you doing?”
“I’m not gonna let you beat up on my friends, or my brother, anymore,” said Mitchell.
Randy answered, “You are the one who let me beat up your brother. Don’t blame everything on me.”
“I know what I did,” said Mitchell, “But, I have apologized and he has forgiven me for it.”
“Blah, blah, blah,” mocked Randy. “I don’t care about any video. I only said those things to get her to shut up.”
Brandon stepped in, “I don’t think people will care why you said it. They will only care that you said it. I think that is enough to ruin your life. So, either you give me back my journal now or you will experience what I’ve had to go through all these years.”
Randy thought hard, “You know what? You can have your stupid little journal back.” He threw the journal on the ground in front of Brandon.
Lina said, “If you tell anyone anything you read in that journal, you can kiss your life goodbye.”
Randy replied, “I can’t believe you actually helped them.”
“Well believe it,” said Lina. “I am tired of you thinking that you can control everything, and me. You are a jerk. This ends today and I am done with you.”
Randy responded, “I don’t need you. And, forget all of you. I am out of here.” Randy began walking away. His reign was finally over. No one could be happier.
Brandon said, “Mitchell, I can’t believe you actually helped me.”
Mitchell answered, “Like I said before, I am your older brother and it is my job.”
“I wish you would have figured that out three days, or a lifetime, ago,” said Brandon as he went in for another hug. This time he was successful.
‘Just be glad I figured it out at all,” said Mitchell as he was still hugging Brandon.

This has been the most traumatic summer of my life. There have been fights and scares that one person could have died from, but, luckily, I got over them. I overcame my fear of Randy and his bullying and got something good out of it. It won’t do any good, though, because he moved out of town. I doubt that he will come back. Maybe he’s gone to bully kids at another school. I’m just glad he’s not at our school anymore. Here’s something no one could believe. Mitchell actually became my older brother and stopped bullying me. I guess getting grounded turned him around. He actually let me hug him! Wow! It was great. Well, I will always remember this summer as the bravest and most adventurous summer ever. Hopefully, I won’t be known as the wimpy kid anymore. Who knows what the future will bring.
