The Braun Series 5 (8995) Men’s Shaver features Gillette Blade Technology that cuts hairs close in a single stroke without pulling or tugging. What is called the Power-Comb, lifts problem hairs that lie flat to the skin to avoid missed hairs in hard to shave areas. The Series 5 captures the hairs other shavers leave behind.
The unique foil pattern captures hairs growing in different directions while the cutting mechanism progressively shaves long hairs and stubble for a closer shave in fewer strokes.

This Braun is the best
“This is the fourth Braun shaver I have owned, and this is clearly the best. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but you use it everyday and my last shaver from Braun lasted over six years and survived year long deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq in 130 degree temperatures. This shaver is the quietest I’ve used and cuts my beard in less than three minutes. The cleaning system is much better than the last system and the shaver always stays fresh and clean. I am not sure the message display is necessary, but it does tell you how long it took to shave each time and tells you how much battery charge is left. The 8975 model is probably just as good as the top of the line 8995 model, but I liked the idea of the larger message center and knowing how much of a charge is left. The Gillette blade is very nice and cuts through my thick beard like butter. I am very satisfied with this shaver and will purchase other Braun shavers in the future.”

THE PHILIPS NORELCO 1280cc/42 SENSOTOUCH 3D- LESS IRRITATION
Apart from providing a really close shave, what makes the Philips Norelco 1280cc/42 SensoTouch 3D a stand-out shaver is its features.
The best feature for me, is that it is completely waterproof. As well as being able to use the shaver dry, you can also use it wet. You could even use it under the shower. The AquaTec seal enables you to have a refreshing wet shave with shaving cream or gel. For the best results, be sure to regularly rinse the cream/gel off, with hot water.
Another really cool feature is the 3D technology. The SensoTouch 3D is the top of the range model. What does Senso Touch 3D mean? Well the “3D” reference is a clue, as it has a 3 different types of movements in the shaving head.
Firstly, the head pivots a full 360 degrees. Second, the individual Ultratrack heads flex inwards. And Thirdly, the Ultratrack heads flex outward. (This third point is one of the differences between the SensoTouch 3D models and the regular SensoTouch 2D models).
What all this flexibility means is that less pressure is needed to reach all of those stubborn hairs. Less pressure, means less friction, and less friction means less irritation. It also has a low-friction SkinGlide shaving surface, which helps to reduce friction.
Whilst we are talking about the differences between the two models, the Philips Norelco 1280cc/42 SensoTouch 3D has an integrated trimmer (The regular SensoTouch models have a clip-on trimmer). Having the trimmer integrated is very convenient. I find it a hassle to stop shaving and look around for the trimmer clip…”Now, where did I put that dam thing,..Oh no! I left it in the hotel room”

“This is the best Electric Razor I’ve ever gotten. I thought my Philips Norelco 1050CC Arcitec Men’s couldn’t be topped but this razor is night and day difference better. I always wet shave and you weren’t suppose to do that with the Arcitec but this magnificent razor lets you shave either dry or wet. The Best Electric Razor Ever Made
“This is the closest shave I’ve ever had with an electric razor. There’s no doubt: this razor shaves as close as a manual blade. The shave is perfect. Even getting the hairs on my neck are no problem.
There is no razor burn. That was actually a slight problem for me on the Series 5, but it is gone with the Series 7.
The motor is very quiet and the actual shave is very smooth. There’s no tugging of hairs or any other discomfort that some electric razors have. Everything is just so smooth, even when I shaved on two days worth of stubble. Still great.”

Close as a blade / without discomfort
This shaver gets as close as a blade without the irritation that inevitably follows a close blade shave. I was amazed that the unit felt as comfortable to handle as it did. It is a huge shaver but has great ergonomics. I am unable to create the sensation of discomfort no matter how hard I press or how many times I go over the same area. Also, no more ingrowns. If you can justify the cost, go for it.
