Blocky
Simple knit and purl stitches create the perfect texture for a fast beginning knitter scarf. You only need to know how to knit and purl to make this scarf!

Level
Beginner- knit, purl

Size
4.5 inches wide/40 inches long

Yarn
100 yards bulky weight yarn

Materials
-Size 11 needles, or size to get gauge
-Tapestry needle to weave in ends

Gauge
3 stiches per inch

Notes
Make the scarf longer by using more yarn- 150 yards bulky yarn would be 60 inches long, 200 yards would be 80 inches long.

This scarf can be knit in a solid, striped, or multi colored yarn. The pattern shows up best with yarns that have some stitch definition.

Cast on 14 stitches loosely.
Set up: Knit 4 rows.
Row 1: Knit 3, purl to last 3, knit 3.
Rows 2-6: Knit.
Repeat rows 1-6 until you do not have enough yarn to work another repeat or until scarf is long enough.
Bind off loosely. Break yarn leaving 8 inch tail and weave in ends.
