Today’s Tomorrow…

Today’s Tomorrow…

Today is just an extension
of Yesterday
Today is just a forerunner
of Tomorrow

isolation
loneliness
solitude
being with myself

i belong to so many
so many belong to me
yet i sit here on my own
the words passing my lips

are for me

i used to congregate with people
converse by mouth
shake hands
hug and kiss
i used to feel the company of others

Now i have 'friends' by the hundred
Now i pass opinion after excremental opinion
Now i take criticism after cruel criticism
Now i read
Now i am read

i crave Yesterdays Tomorrow
all those i grew weary of
tedious conversations
the smell and touch of beings
the anonymity of the crowd
i crave my innocence

but

Today is what Tomorrow will bring
Today is what i've always wanted
Today fingertip's tap knowledge
Today i have 547 people who 'like' me

more lonely than i ever was

in a world of isolation

solitude in the internet

Tomorrows Tomorrow will bring...?

Tomorrow’s Tomorrow…

Today is just an extension
of Yesterday
Today is just the forerunner
of Tomorrow

in the Today of Yesterday
i was who i was
in the Tomorrow of Yesterday
i am who i want to be

finally i am me
after decades of being him
the introvert guy
unheard and unhearing

isolation and solitude
consciousness and thought
knowledge and understanding
conversations and learning

sat alone in my mind
as i've always been
but read
reading all

the film director
the retiree
the academic
the grandmother baby-sitter
the poet who would talk to god
the dark angel of literary genius
the guy who writes the blues
the schizophrenic philosopher
the mechanic
the burger flipper
the politician
the butcher
the baker
the candlestick maker

friends never met
nor will they
but i read their words
their minds lay naked before me

and me
an equal
amongst equals
a soul awakened

in Yesterday's Today
a handful of friends
in Yesterday's Tomorrow
457 people 'like' me

when i roam the world
they are there
only people in my loneliness
and i with them

my voice is Now mine
my opinion Now requested
my words Now discussed
my imagination Now inspired

unexpected in my youth
unrestricted knowledge
upon my fingertips
in front of my eyes

passion and lust
hate and pain
creation and destruction
love and lover's

fountain of information
river of desire
my want
my lake of warm impermanence

yet my mind
isolated as ever
impenetrable
remains alone

until Tomorrow's Tomorrow...?

*****

Dear Reader,

Thank you for reading Tomorrow (A & B side)... it is offered free of charge to you as a sample of the poetry of Spargo Postle. This poem is written as a prelude to coming works. If you are lonely or in some way at the edge of the lives around you always remember that we are connected. We are not always easy to see, we are rarely heard, we can be too insecure to speak of the thoughts that stumble through our ever occupied minds, but we are here, we are united, we are truly the solitary many.
