Chapter One
Jade rolled over in her king sized bed only to find the other side empty. She sat up in bed and observed the clock while fixing her long brown hair, which had matted from sleeping without her satin scarf. She hadn't had much sleep because she’d tossed and turned all night. It's four in the morning. Where the hell is he? Deshawn was nowhere to be found. Another lonely night. She wanted things to change. Jade and Deshawn had only been living together for about three months. It was Deshawn's idea to live together in the first place. This was not the first night he had not come home. In fact, he hadn’t stayed a whole night with her since she graduated from college. Jade and Deshawn were high school sweethearts from their small town in Maryland. Everyone believed that they would be together forever. Things changed dramatically when she wanted to go to college and he didn't. Deshawn wanted her to be a housewife and let him work, but Jade was brought up to never depend on a man.
Jade looked down at her engagement ring. She let out a deep breath, trying to remain cool, but tired of his cheating ways. Ever since she moved in, Deshawn had become a different person. Jade figured he was jealous because she was the only one out of all their friends to go to college. She rolled her eyes and took her ring off. It doesn't even mean anything anymore. Unable to sleep, she decided to check her email.
