Asa, the Minor Goddess of War, was tending to her own business, as watching the Humans of Elvira battle against each other was her job, as well as keeping the wars even, when Alaraith approached her.
Now, Alaraith was a High God, and not only that, but he was the High God of Darkness. Not only was he known to cause chaos on Elvira, which the other deities, including Asa, had to clean up, but he was also known for breaking the hearts of several Goddesses. Asa knew it could not be a good thing that he was approaching her, so she ignored his presence.
Instead, she paid attention to the battle currently happening on Elvira though her crystal ball, as crystal balls were a fashion at the time to use. The Mages were winning as always. It was no wonder that they had held onto the Power Source for so long, even though they didn’t really use it. Asa thought that Humans were so incompetent, as here they held the power that held Quadrant 6 together, as they used it for mere protection of their people and cities.
Then again, the Knights had once held it, and hadn’t even used it. Not for protection, nor for any power.
Yes, the Mages were winning, and Asa was not going to change that.
Although, Asa wished that they would at least be a little more fun with their battles. Being a Minor Goddess was boring. Her only fun came from watching a fun battle. However, Humans were too simplistic nowadays for that.
“You really like your wars,” Alaraith said, smoothly. “Why is it that you are not a High Goddess?”
Wishing to ignore him, but knowing that simply watching a battle would not suffice for ignorance of a High God, she sent a wave of magic over the battlefield, making the Mages even stronger.
Alaraith laughed. “They didn’t need any help. Do you really think I’m that scary? Now, tell me, why is it that you are not a High Goddess?”
“Birthright. But you should know that.”
“Do you assume that I pay attention to everyone’s family trees? Besides, the way I see it, it should be ability over birthright. Don’t you agree?”
Asa thought for a moment. It would be nice to be a High Goddess. And, she knew that she did a much better job than her cousin, the High Goddess of War. But, there had to be something up Alaraith’s sleeve. Something bad.
“Yes. I would much prefer ability over birthright. Then I would be the High Goddess of War, and my cousin would be put in her rightful place.”
“I like the way you think, Goddess. Now, for us to be able to convince the God of All to do this, we are going to need your sister’s help…”
