Author bio:
Although I’ve made my living as a teacher and guidance counselor, I’ve always had a passion for writing. Thomas Bouregy and Company published my novel, Return to Paradise Cove, under their Avalon imprint. Two of my one-act plays, A Different Kind of Death, and The Flirt, have been produced, respectively, in New Haven, Connecticut, and Sacramento, California. Short stories of mine have appeared in commercial magazines such as Action and True Romance as well as in certain literary and professional ones.

Author bio:
I was born in Winston-Salem in the early autumn of 1986, and immediately became a lover of prose and literature. At a young age, I would delve into my mother's vast book collection (Antony and Cleopatra, Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice), and a life-changing love affair was formed. I wanted to orchestrate stories like the ones I read, create new realms of thinking, new worlds, involving various types of people. I completed my first novel at 12...and I haven't put the pen down since. You'll find an array of writing styles - press releases, online exclusives, magazine articles, endorsement letters, suggesting that my interests and career goals surpass literary writing. It has always been my belief that the most important thing about writing is that it should convey the right message, in any fashion that it is presented. For my personal usage, writing has always soothed my soul, has always served as the perfect form of catharsis.

Hey, I'm Emily! I've been writing since I was young. I wrote mostly fiction, but I've posted some nonfiction here, as well. I love it, it's so fun. I grew up in Colorado, in Littleton, Loveland, and Fort Collins. I've moved around a lot, though, I can't stay too long in one place. I've traveled to South Africa, Zambia, the Marshall Islands, France, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy. My husband and I do a lot of traveling, and we plan to revisit Europe in the future. We live in Salem, Oregon right now with our two cats. I read, write, cook, try to make money from home. My chicken enchiladas are awesome. Hope you enjoy the writing!

I am a teenage African American poetess trying to open up a new avenue in the world of Dragons: Space Dragons!! And I WILL make it "work." My stories are mostly flash fiction, short stories and (best of all) poetry. About The Society On Da Run series: Earth has seen many visitors, from space dragons colonizing the planet in Pre Cambrian times to intelligent insectoids and benevolent owl gods. Follow the adventures of a wide cast of characters as they encounter the dragons of the Draconizica empire, and Ashuton Karrucci, the god of dragons going about his daily life in Italy. From a story about a small town ravaged by an airborn dragon virus, to a story about a cruel dragon king on a terraformed Mars, to the story of a girl pregnant with a Dragon god, these stories are not bound by the norms of the Fantasy and Science Fiction genres. Also includes stories unrelated to the dragons. _______________________________________________ As of March 2012, all issues in the TSODR have been (or are being) updated with new covers and additional content. Author bio:
If you like a book by John Blandly, please give it five stars. If you don't, sorry. Improvements are constantly being made. We (meaning all one of us) know it is an effort to give five stars--they are very heavy. If you do so, let me know. Many of John Blandly's books are novellas and novelettes. Or, maybe they should be called micronovels. He started writing screenplays about ten years ago, and suddenly he couldn't write anything longer than 100 pages. He tried to put in a lot of dialogue, fast paced action and quick cuts, as if you were watching a movie. One ebook, "For Esme--With Love," even includes short scripts. It has been said that there is never a final version of a screenplay--just the current one. If you think your script is perfect, just pick it up in a few weeks or months. Spontaneously, it seems, typos, plot flaws, and all sorts of errors appear, as if out of nowhere. That's like an ebook. There is one way ebooks are better than printed books for a writer--you can easily revise them--edit--fix mistakes--make the book better, as I've recently done with "Kiss Me, I'm Irish," "BombDown," "Girlfriends Lost," and "Peeps." "The Volunteers" was originally published in "Studio" (Australia). I love Australia and hope some day to visit there. South America too. Love stories--that's what I like in a book or a movie. Some love stories here are "Girlfriends Lost," and "The Volunteers." There may be others. I have always been interested in astronomy. I get new books almost every year (almanacs), since there are always new discoveries. "The Meddlers," and "Peeps" deal with what might happen if there was virtual travel to nearby stars, which I think will happen. I am continuing to work on Enhanced eBooks, which includes photos or films or music. Here, "The Underground," is perhaps the best example, but there is some enhancement with photos or art in "Famous Fake Books," "Rock Star Diet," and "Girlfriends Lost." I just added a new improved version of Rock Star Diet, with more jokes, and photos of my favorite rock stars. Check out my films by searching johnblandly on YouTube. Phantom of the Art Gallery http://www.youtube.com/user/JohnBlandly#p/u/0/XiDzQvtkbcA I reside in the wilderness of the New York frontier. Here are some links to navigate with me! "Abbie," the love story of Frankie and Maisie, who get involved in the drama of Abbie Hoffman's underground life in the Thousand Islands http://www.synergebooks.com/ebook_abbie.html me book of poetry--just jokes in the form of poems http://synergebooks.com/ebook_new&easypoems.html If you've got nothing better to do, you can read my hopefully somewhat accurate poems about the meaning of life. Good luck! Also, please buy a copy of one of my novellas or novelettes from Smashwords. It is said that a prophet is not without honor except in his home town. Based on sales of my books, looks like my home town is--THE WORLD! The young adult novelette, The Volunteers, is based on a number of true stories, or more accurately, harrowing experiences. Girlfriends Lost is completely fictional--I wish! I do not know how to explain it right now except to say, Caesar used to write about himself in the third person, but he had far better adventures. So, enjoy reading "The Death of John Blandly, Continued," included in this novella, and if you can figure it out, let me know, at jjbrearton@aol.com. A novelette that I first published here has now been released as an ebook by Aripublishing.com. It is a surprisingly popular young adult western story. Dottie Hicks Biography Dottie Hicks is a native East Texan, born in the crossroad community of Tundra, Van Zandt County. She graduated from Canton High School, attended Tyler Jr. College, studied journalism at Eastfield Jr. College in Dallas where she was feature editor of the school’s magazine. Dottie holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Texas (where she outranked, chronologically speaking, most of her professors.) She is a perennial student and is currently engaged in the complicated course of learning HOW to use the computer. She has enjoyed a myriad of vocations over the years; a published author of several religious-oriented articles; a former fashion model with the prestigious Kim Dawson Model Agency in Dallas; was actively involved in the formation of Channel 33 Christian television station in Dallas; as an actress she did T.V. commercials and worked in various Dallas based movies. (She was double and stand-in for Faye Dunaway in “Bonnie and Clyde”.) Dottie’s writing portfolio includes: researching and completing a biography of an old-fashioned, turn-of-century preacher, Rev. A.C. Bates, for the minister’s descendants.. It is appropriately titled “Brimstone Bates”. Her screenplay “Solo of Love” was birthed at the University of Texas while studying screen writing. It grew from a one-act play to a full-blown manuscript and has been optioned by two film companies. Her historical novel “Harriet’s Journey” is fiction based on the life of Harriet Hastings, a Southerner living in southwest Missouri during the Civil War who is caught in the cross fire between Union and Confederate factors seeking to control the state. At war’s end she undertakes the most perilous journey of her life. Alone, except for her three young children and an aged black mammy, she journeys through the wilds of the Arkansas Ozarks in a converted cotton wagon drawn by two emaciated oxen in search of her husband who is “somewhere in East Texas”. Dottie is a portrait artist. She calls herself a “Painter of People”. Self-taught, she has painted hundreds of oil portraits over the last several years. The paintings range from movie stars (she was commissioned to paint a full length western of the late Steve McQueen to hang over his fire place in Idaho.) to mansions, mongrel dogs to mules. They hang in homes from California to the Carolinas. She specializes in children and women’s portraits. She readily admits, “My talent is a gifting from God, and I give Him the glory! Dottie and her husband George live in Dallas, Texas.

I heard Mark Twain picked cotton, captained a riverboat, and failed at gold mining before becoming a full time writer. The only thing I've picked recently is my nose and my ex-wife says I'm not even good at that, but I have had some rather spectacular failures, although gold mining is not one of them. For a good while I spray painted trucks and inhaled a fair bit of overspray, which I account for the oddness of my thinking. Either that or the gallons of poopy water I swallowed cleaning fish tanks for a pet wholesaler (I got the siphon going by sucking on a hose). I'll do the math for you - I cleaned 100 tanks a week for a year, and about every tenth tank, failed to get the damn hose out of my mouth in time. That's over 500 mouthfuls of fish piss during my career - enough to make anyone a little kooky. But it sure made my hair grow. Timing was never my strong suit, so I never should have tried playing the stock market, because what little money I had was lost there. After that, I guess I got a little lost too. That was a while ago. Now I write some and just try to keep warm and dry while I captain my cosmic riverboat up the big river. I'd be happy if you came aboard for a visit.

These days she still plays her guitar whenever she gets bored staring at her computer’s screen or plotting the most elaborate scheme of world domination. Fortunately, she has a chronically short attention span.

Author bio:
I must in all honesty, update this entry, for I stumbled onto the magic key to post a story on Smashwords. It was operator error not one of the poltergeist that I’m sure came preloaded in my computer that prevents me from getting what I want from it. For those of you who didn’t read this bio before—which I’m sure includes the rest of the world’s population—I repeat: I am an old man who loves to write. I started decades ago—the exact number is irrelevant—on a cast iron framed manual typewriter that would now serve little purpose beyond a boat anchor. I love composing fiction on the computer, mainly because of the spell check feature. Why someone who can’t spell worth a damn wants to write, I’ll never be able to explain. I take solace in the knowledge that some well-known writers throughout history were so afflicted. However, I must confess, that is about as far as I can go into this—to me—frightening world of cyberspace. I don’t have accounts on face book (wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. Almost nightly the news is filled with stories of people murdered by people they have contacted there.) I feel the same way about Myspace, a blog or personal web site. I don’t tweet or twit or what ever that is. That really seems silly--just call them and talk! So I’ll be contented to write and enjoy retirement until the final heartbeat or wayward city buss runs me over.

Presently, I am into a more serious project, and this will occupy my writing time for a while.

Lizzie Lynn Lee was a guitarist, receptionist, executive assistant, tarot reader, boutique owner, and graphic artist before she discovered that writing is her dream job. The advantage is that she can do it in her pajamas and socks. She’s an incurable chatterbox, heavy metal aficionado, book worm, digital enthusiast and a night owl since most of her stories were done in the wee hours of the morning because of her caffeine-induced insomnia. These days she still plays her guitar whenever she gets bored staring at her computer’s screen or plotting the most elaborate scheme of world domination. Fortunately, she has a chronically short attention span.

Todd A. Drashner was born and raised in the semi-wilds of Alaska. He first became interested in science fiction at age 9 when he picked up a copy of Clarke’s Childhood’s End in a bored moment and has been hooked ever since. Todd generally prefers “hard” science fiction that is still not afraid to think big. He encountered Drexler’s book Engines of Creation in college, along with the ideas of trans and post-humanism and Vernor Vinge’s Singularity concept. When he grows up he wants to be a Power. Todd’s current interests include reading, working out, music, and thinking about the future. Discovering the Orion’s Arm project still counts as one of the happier moments in his life to date. He currently lives in the Tidewater region of Virginia where he works as an Instructional Designer for a major corporation.
