Author bio:
A long, long time ago; legends and folk tales were used by people as a way of captivating the imagination of children and adults alike. Elders would use stories in order to impart the ways of the community, wisdom and morals to the rest and thereby also fostering a strong community spirit. I have always been fascinated by mythology and being born in Kenya, the connection to Africa has also been strong. Africa is a melting pot of thousands of different communities with their own specific cultures, traditions and stories! However most of these stories were never written and over time communities have started to lose their stories. I came to Cape Town, South Africa on a corporate secondment and the existence of so many different tribes just within South Africa intrigued me. I realised that a lot of the culture and traditions that used to be in existence several years ago, had gradually diminished over time. This project was borne as a result; with the aim of preserving the stories, legends and folk tales of some of the South African cultures through children. It is hoped that these books will help the youth of South Africa to re-connect with their cultures as well as to raise awareness and tolerance of others. Through sales of this book, I hope to raise funding in order to donate printed books to needy children in less privileged schools. Some of these stories have been collected through interacting with the local communities and others through research. Due to the lack of historic documented records as well as evolution and adaptation of some of the stories over time; it is difficult to guarantee the originality and uniqueness of the stories. The stories gathered have been further adapted to make them more captivating for today’s children.

Armed to the teeth he finds it easier when people don't know his name. For one lone survivor, she will learn to become his voice.
Author bio:
Richard Schwarz always had an insatiable curiosity for the feminine form that started the first time he looked through one of his father's gentleman's magazine at age seven. Without the stigma of modern society to contend with, his young imagination blossomed with the possibility of engaging a woman's delectable delights. Creative story telling sprang from the fertile field of his mind and as he matured erotic day dreaming followed. Several years of discovery, escapades, and a move from the south to Missouri later, Richard Schwarz decided to pursue a dream and begin writing. The subject matter he laces each story with came easily from his earliest fantasies and his later exploits. As a responsible father and husband balancing a job and a new found career in erotica, he never forgets the most important thing to him which is his family. In the wee hours of the night, after he's satisfied his wife's insatiable lust for his husbandly duties, his mind drifts away in content as he reflects on his interracial relationship. Eventually, although the names have been changed and the scenarios elaborated upon, he begins to tell his tales so that others may enjoy them as well.

When I was a kid, about 8 yrs. old or so, I would lend at least 25 books at the school library for my summer break. At first my teachers shook their heads in disbelief and they were probably thinking to themselves: he is never going to finish all of those books. But coming back after the summer break, I was always able to give them a detailed review of every single book. Some of those books were trilogies such as Isaac Asimovs "Foundation-" series and "Ringworld." I simply love books and though I like watching a movie just as much as everyone else, reading a book really is something else. By reading a book you construct pictures in your own mind instead of being served by a director. But what I love the most about books is the possibility of finding several layers in the book. Things that you cannot find in a movie can be put into a book, because words can be used in such a way that other kinds of meaning appear or disappear. I write about almost everything and anything, but always with my own speciality of "wry and dry" humor, that is, the kind of humor that attacks a subject head on, but still leaves the reader to think about it. I really hope you will enjoy my books... Wishing you a good reading experience, Per Holbo

my fantasy epic, A Dreaming Myth, is my most favourite piece of work i have ever done, and it is because i use a fictional mindset to bend the world I know to how i want it, and shape it to this fantasy. creating a new universe may not be as hard as i thought, but trying to expand it is what's hard.

I plan on writing 30+ books, but I need help from you, the readers. Motivation is a tool that I lack. Creativity is a resource where "my cup" runneth over. So, please, if you have anything positive to say, polite criticism to give, or you simply want to say hi, feel free to. And remember, a review can be a detailed essay or a simple "I loved it". So far, there are a total of six books completed. The other four will be added to this site, if you show me some love! I have created a Marvel like universe. I love the X-men, yet didn't want to create a world that is too open ended and simply explained by a 'mutant' gene. My characters are more works of human curiosity and human stupidity with a twist of twilight zone humor. Thank you for reading this, reading my works, and I'm out like last night's bathwater!

Author bio:
I was born and reared in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and moved to Omaha, NE in 2005. I was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease when I was seven. This visual impairment caused my central vision to deteriorate and I have been living with only seeing a small part of the world ever since. This lack of perception allowed my imagination to wander, and I have been telling myself stories and crafting new adventures in my head ever since. My hobbies include watching the Texas Rangers baseball team, enjoying Japanese animation, podcasting, playing role playing video games, reading fiction of all time periods, and watching historical documentaries. When I write, read, or watch media I like to analyze the stories from all angles and see the hidden special details that others might miss. When finishing a novel I often wonder what far reaching consequences would follow the characters for the rest of their lives. My first novel was an attempt to show how my original story idea would be felt by generations to come and how the decisions of one day could echo down the ages. I always want to know how happily the ever after turns out to be.

I began writing at a very young age (I'm not exactly sure when). The first major project I did was an adaptation of Peter Pan for my fourth grade class to perform, then, my teachers had me also write a Christmas play. I've always loved reading and have immersed myself in such books as The Chronicles of Narnia, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, And The Lord of the Rings since early childhood. This has leant my writing style to more gothic-style fantasy and occult fiction, but also some poetry. My ninth grade English teacher read a few of my scribblings and suggested I enter a poetry contest. I did, and my first poem was recognized. Thus began my professional writing life. At 16, one of my poems was featured in a Texas High School Anthology which the aforementioned English teacher now holds in her classroom. From that point until this I've called myself a writer.

Beyond The Blue, The Blue Series Volume 2, Part 2 by Josephine Dillon Beyond The Blue, The Blue Series Volume 2, Part 2 by Josephine Dillon April 06, 2012 142787 words Read a sample
Dillon uncovers his voice and develops his own power as he struggles to adapt to the changes in his young life. Haunted by demons sent to distract and tempt him away from his faith, Dillon will either make allies with the angel sent to help him, or choose his own path.
Author bio:
Josephine Dillon was born March 9th, 1969 in Kenitra, Morocco, to parents Patricia and Eugene Godfrey. She grew up in Oceanside, one of the northern suburbs of San Diego, California, graduating from Vista High School. She later attended San Diego State University, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing. She has been a registered nurse since graduating in 1995, working in the profession for the past sixteen years. As a novice writer, I wrote the first three books from The Blue Series during the years 2006 through 2009 and am currently writing the fourth and final book in the series. The story was created in the early 1980's, when I was a young teenager. These novels are my first work of fiction. Please note that all the characters and story are fictional and only a few isolated incidents paralleled my existence at the time. The Irish Setter Reuben, the high school, and the home address were all from my childhood and not fictional. I attended and graduated from Vista High School, (survived is more like it), and I lived and grew up in Oceanside. The failed attempt to drown was my experience, and I will admit to wanting desperately to be a boy when I was growing up. Along with that, I also had a very vivid imagination. My family, however, were not at all similiar to the Smiths - I had loving, caring, nonjudgemental parents who adored me. Hope you enjoy the book but most importantly for new writers like me, please write a review? Even if the book did not appeal to you, could you state why? I would really appreciate it. To those readers who braved a download of Beyond The Blue Part 1 and 2, please make sure to download the latest versions. I found a huge mistake in the sequencing of the chapters in the book and would appreciate it if my readers could download it again (it's free!) so that they can read it the way it should be read. This book was just too big to be a single work, which is why I spliced it, however in doing so, I made a mistake in the timing of the story. I hope you enjoy Beyond The Blue Part 1 and Part 2. Part 2 is for adult readers only and I've chosen to make it free because I want to write for the fun of it. If you catch grammatical errors, I apologize, but since I am my own editor, please forgive me. I am currently editing my third book, Black and Blue and it's another beast, 600 pages long. I'm editing slowly in my free time but it's tedious. If you would like me to split it up into two parts like I did the second book, then send me an email or write on my facebook page. I am also currently writing the fourth book, about 150 pages into it. Please write me reviews? I thrive on it and enjoy reading your thoughts. Or post a comment on my facebook page. This is my hobby and I will continue to allow downloads of my books for free to Smashword readers. If you want a printed copy, I am currently at Off The Book Shelf, but that will cost you because I only get a small percentage of the profit and can't set the price. I might look into Create A Space instead if it will save the reader money. We'll see what happens, til then, happy reading.
