| Author bio: I'm a retired journalist who is now turning my hand to writing books. I've started with short stories to test the water. Many of my storylines come in dreams. The melody for the famous Beatles' song "Yesterday" came to Paul McCartney in a dream. So maybe I'll dream a bestseller. My first book was created on a toy typewriter when I was 10 and my dad did the illustrations. He was best at drawing elephants and that started a life-long passion for collection elis of all shapes and sizes. I now have a massive herd of ornaments, clothing and jewellery. I play golf badly, am a jewellery maker extraodinaire, and am learning Lakota Sioux. I don't know anyone else who is around here so I will probably have to talk to myself...so what's new. I also speak "Doo Da". ie: "You know who I mean...doo da", "Can you pass the...doo da?" |

| Author bio: William Forde was born in Ireland and currently lives in Haworth, West Yorkshire, England. He is the father of five children and the author of 28 published books and a musical play. He is unique in the field of contemporary children's authors through the challenging emotional issues and story themes he addresses, preferring to focus upon those emotions that children find most difficult to appropriately express. One of West Yorkshire's most popular children's authors, his books have been publicly read in over 2,000 Yorkshire school assemblies by over 800 famous names and celebrities from the realms of Royalty, Film, Stage, Screen, Politics, Church, Sport, etc. The late Princess Diana used to read his earlier books to her then young children, William and Harry and Nelson Mandela once telephoned him to praise an African story book he had written. Others who have supported his works have included three Princesses, three Prime Ministers, two Presidents and numerous Bishops of the realm.A former Chief Inspector of Schools for OFSTED described his writing to the press as 'High quality literature.' Forever at the forefront of change, at the age of 18 years, William became the youngest Youth Leader and Trade Union Shop Steward in Great Britain. In 1971, he founded Anger Management in Great Britain and freely gave his courses to the world. Within the next two years, Anger Management courses had mushroomed across the English-speaking world. During the mid-70's, he introduced Relaxation Training into H.M. Prisons and between 1970 and 1995, he worked in West Yorkshire as a Probation Officer specialising in Relaxation Training, Anger Management, Stress Management and Assertive Training Group Work. He retired early on the grounds of ill health in 1995 to further his writing career, which witnessed him working with the Minister of Youth and Culture in Jamaica to establish a trans-Atlantic pen-pal project between 30 primary schools in Falmouth, Jamaica and 30 primary schools in Yorkshire. William was awarded the MBE in the New Year's Honours List of 1995 for his services to West Yorkshire. He has never sought to materially profit from the publication of his books and has allowed all profit from their sales (approx £200,000) to be given to charity. |

Insane Possibilities | by Jeffrey Miska May 22, 2012 | 15306 words | Read a sample |
| A short story about a vivacious young physicist and mathematician named Kristine, who has devoted her life to science. Hallucinations cause her to seek help from a social worker named Paul and she's terrified when she hears a questionable diagnosis of schizophrenia. Her path leads her to a place where perspective is all that's real, and sanity is nothing more than the limit of what we believe. | ||||
| Author bio: Jeffrey Miska grew up Western Springs and later moved to Lagrange Illinois. A proud alumni from Lyons Township Highschool class of '79. Music was always his passion. He has played piano since age three and enjoys composing music in his free time. Jeff has also been a member of many local bands over the years as a keyboard and vocal artist. Although not actively performing, he continues to include music as a continuous part of his life. European and American military history have been a life long interest. Reading books about the history of local place names, it sparked further curiosity that led to research on ancient cultures and mythology. He spent several years being mentored in native american religion and culture, and spoke at grammar schools in Dupage county to educate children in native american and local history as well as local archaeology. Further study into his own Slavic and Belgian roots, from pre-christian culture to present day, set the stage for writing unique fiction with accurate historical references. Relatively new to writing other than short stories, his goal in creating short stories and books is to write and share in the spirit of any story teller. To entertain by narrating the simplest of human joys and express that which we treasure in our lives. If there is a message from the author in these books, it's to remind the reader how romance and friendship remain our greatest gift, and how anyone can initiate the greatest of changes with the smallest of actions. Jeff has been employed in the financial industry for most of his adult life and still resides in the Chicago suburbs. |

| Obee the squirrel would rather play and have fun then hunt for food to save for winter. When winter rolls around what will Obee do when the first snows blanket the forest? | ||||
| Author bio: Robert has always had an active imagination, which he usually expressed in drawings and doodles, but it wasn't until 2007 that he actually started putting pen to paper (letters to laptop really). Robert started out writing short stories with little life messages in them. He finished his first full length novel, The Bully Affect, in 2008, the focus of which was also a life lesson. Bullying. A writing contest was the inspiration for his novella, The Tombstone Stranger. Written in less then two weeks and told from the prespective of a young boy growing up in the wild west the narration proved quite challenging. "To talk with a drawl or accent is one thing, but to write that way was a lot harder then I thought it would be, but I think that is part of the charm of the story," Robert says. His next novel, Zoey Zimmerman and the Zombie Pigeon, was nearly two years in the making. This tale of a young girl that can talk to animals also has a fundamental life lesson at the heart, friendship. "I really enjoy writing stories for young readers. If you can keep their interest with a good story and sneak in some important messages all the better." Robert resides in Glendale, Arizona with his beautiful wife Jennifer, step-daughter Ashley, son Branden and daughter Emma. |

| Prey for Survival by S. Bradley Stoner is no tale for the faint of heart. The wild, beautiful, brutal wilderness of the Canadian Rockies is the setting for this story of life that is both wonderful and dangerous - and where extreme brutality exists side by side with exquisite beauty. | ||||
| Author bio: S. Bradley Stoner was born in April, 1949. He was raised and educated in Denver, Colorado, attending the Denver Public School System and graduating from high school in 1967. He attended and graduated from the University of Colorado (Boulder) with a degree in environmental biology in 1971. Active and goal oriented, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of thirteen and subsequently earned two palms, was a member of the Denver Field Ornithologists from the age of 11 until college and work stopped his active participation, and in college was was elected to the Phi Sigma Society, the national biological honor society, in May 1970. Also in 1970 he was chairman of the Wildlife Committee for the University of Colorado's participation in the first Earth Day observation. Stoner's other interests include photography, pen and ink art and poetry(done under the name Bridgewood), horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and travel. |
