That Look | by Emily Cain April 19, 2012 | 499 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: If you want, you can email me at drwateva@gmail.com I love books!! I have so many favourites and have read so many I can't list them. My parents and Friends have said that I'm addicted to books and that the never knew reading too many books could be a bad thing! I can be very deceptive. If you ask anybody I know they will all say that me and coffee shouldn't be together but I love the stuff! I also love sugar and many believe I go "high" on sugar. I am personally known for the amount of books I read and the fact many believe I am crazy. To I degree I actually am but don't tell them that. I am one of the few who actually match their star sign perfectly. I love writing but suck at writing other peoples stories. I love to do random things but I can never have the guts to do them at the time. I have been told that I think too much and over think things. I can have complete understanding of things sometimes but aboslutely none at others. Can you guess my star sign? I play the trumpet, saxophone, keyboard and guitar and can write songs. Is there anything else you would like to know about me? If there is I will happily tell you so just message me and I'll get back to you. Top tips: When a Customs officer asks, "Do you have any firearms?" Do not reply, "What do you need?" Realise that before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes. Redheads are dangerous. Hydrogen Peroxide and Potassium Iodide together makes an awesome prank!! |

Nearly Departed | by Max Patrick Schlienger April 14, 2012 | 79243 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Since he first learned to speak, Max Patrick Schlienger has been telling stories. Unfortunately, despite having been given ample opportunity and encouragement, he has yet to master the art of shutting the hell up. In an effort to avoid being completely shunned by his friends and family, Max finally took to writing his stories down. He intends to continue in the glamorous profession of making stuff up until such time as the position of Superman becomes available. When he's not wasting time on the Internet or pretending to understand elements of theoretical physics, Max can often be found making short films, singing acappella music, and participating in ill-conceived culinary experimentation. He lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area, where a video game company pays him to break things and then brag about it. There is no currently-existing evidence to refute Max's claims of his own immortality, insofar as he is not yet dead. |

Victoria and The Evil Senator: Special Preview | by Edward Tennyson April 12, 2012 | 3922 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Who am I? I write a series of fiction stories surrounding the adventures of Victoir and Sam. Who are they? Well one is a spy the other a thief. They tried to go to dinner and well stuff happens… I started writing when I was a wee little one. Actually, I was storyboarding before I wrote. I’d draw these intricate battle scenes with high tech sci-fi Battlestar Galatica influences. When I got older I started writing stories about the main character in these battles. I still have the original story written on legal pad paper in pen, its old yellowing and crumbling but all the originals are there. Well fast forward many years later and I’m writing proposals, reports, fiction, sometimes they are one in the same. You know how that is. I did some copywriting, a newsletter and now I’m just writing for fun. I write stories in horror, romance, and action adventure. I also write on Protagonize.com a collaborative writing site. |

My High School Reunion | by Wm. G. Thilgen Jr. (Bill) April 11, 2012 | 1862 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: William Guy Thilgen Jr. (Bill) is a 63 years old semi-retired former native of St. Paul, Minnesota commonly known as the Twin Cities. He is the middle child of seven, with three older step-sisters, two younger brothers and a baby sister: William currently resides in Las Vegas, NV. He and his wife Rosa plan to retire to Mazatlan, Mexico, in a few years. Prior to his present career as a security officer at a major casino in Las Vegas, William followed his grandfather's footsteps as a professional truck driver. A career that allowed him to see parts of the country, taste various foods and to partake in a variety of adventures whenever he happen across them. During those years he considered himself to be a professional tourist. William attributes his imagination and story-telling ability to the fact that, like most children during his youth, he grew up in a large family in a small house with no room to play indoors. Most children of that era grew up playing outdoors. He and his friends would spend hours and hours finding things to do, and on occasion making up their own adventures. As William aged he learned to view life as series of adventures. It was on one such adventure in the winter of 1994-- he met Patte. |

Strange Coffee | by Sarah Deane April 11, 2012 | 89362 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I'm a freelance writer based in Liverpool, UK. A lover of lists, and all things trivial, I found my perfect job when I was 23, writing quiz questions for pub quiz machines. As much as I loved it, sitting in an office for the same 8 hours and fighting murderous traffic twice a day, severely affected my mental state so, in 2001, I went freelance, setting up my own quiz-writing company, The Questionmaster. This gave me the luxury of working my own hours, from home, and also allowed me a chance to start trying to make inroads in my other passion - creative writing. In 2005, I won the 'TenPlay' scriptwriting award for a short play called "The Banner" and, from there, secured my first television commission, writing on the award-winning BBC drama series, "Moving On", created by Jimmy McGovern. I try to explore all genres of writing, from TV, stage and film, to short stories, novels, articles, even erotica. I'm always learning (I don't think that ever changes), but am never happier than when I'm getting backache sat at a laptop all day. When I'm not writing, I'm supporting Liverpool FC, or studying serial killers. Sometimes I get the two mixed up. I'm a little bit allergic to the 21st century, but only because education doesn't seem to be important anymore, 'discipline' is a dirty word, and people in general are just much "noisier". Sitting on a bus for more than 10 minutes, with VERY LOUD, Tourettes-afflicted passengers, is torture for me. If I won the lottery, or had a hit on Smashwords, I'd be able to finally start ticking off some of the things on my Bucket List, most of which include expensive plane journeys. Please help me along! |

My Turn-ons Include Napalm | by Chris Dodson April 09, 2012 | 4212 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: I was born and reared in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and moved to Omaha, NE in 2005. I was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease when I was seven. This visual impairment caused my central vision to deteriorate and I have been living with only seeing a small part of the world ever since. This lack of perception allowed my imagination to wander, and I have been telling myself stories and crafting new adventures in my head ever since. My hobbies include watching the Texas Rangers baseball team, enjoying Japanese animation, podcasting, playing role playing video games, reading fiction of all time periods, and watching historical documentaries. When I write, read, or watch media I like to analyze the stories from all angles and see the hidden special details that others might miss. When finishing a novel I often wonder what far reaching consequences would follow the characters for the rest of their lives. My first novel was an attempt to show how my original story idea would be felt by generations to come and how the decisions of one day could echo down the ages. I always want to know how happily the ever after turns out to be. |

Hook Line And Internetted | by Stephanie M Turner April 05, 2012 | 52283 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: 'Writing is my passion' Of course it is, anyone who knows me can tell you this. I have been writing since I was able to put a pencil to paper and could string together a few badly spelled words with crayon pictures of princesses and their princes alongside the stories. But as I grew, so did my writing both in quality and maturity. Today I write for others to read because I want my imagination to come alive for them. Mostly I write teen fiction, why? because I have a great deal of experience interacting with children and teenagers as part of my career. But also because I am a mother of four, and after spending years talking and listening to them and their friends, I believe I have gained a wonderful insight into the way they act and interact. They are my inspiration. |

Out of the Closet | by JK Bradley March 24, 2012 | 942 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Welcome to my world. Do not be frightened with what you find; although everything here is alive, if only in my mind. Would you like to glimpse the shadows inside and experience what haunts my midnight hollows? Please, allow me to share my tales. Let me tease the very ends of your nerves. Let me drip chilling indulgence over your flesh. Let me bring you into my sultry and delicious world. Allow me to breathe something beautiful into your mind. Perhaps saving you from a spell of boredom, perhaps slaying the sucking monotony that rules your life. Perhaps it will feel a little like being infected. Nevertheless, please, come take a journey with me. One breath at a time, allow me to titillate your senses, to arouse your suspicions and tickle your fancy, and thereby, afford me some stroking of my own. After all, why do any of this if not to receive some whimsical pleasures, no? Freeing my living demons by exposing them to you simply feels good. But are they real, these tales, these stories? Well, what IS real? If reality begins with perception, and you allow me to enter you, if you let me slither inside your mind, exposing all of my wooded and moldering lot, then, just per chance you will begin to share in a portion of what is real in me, you will perceive me and what sleeps inside my head, the truth of my world will latch on, sinking teeth, thereby making everything you find here come alive. Making it all Real. You do not necessarily have to believe to take the journey, just open your mind to me, just take a sip, savor the taste. For, I intuit the realization and truth and understanding will seep in, soon enough, drop by salty-sweet drop. Let me say Welcome, friends. Welcome to where it all begins, where everything that is real and of consequence takes place, where evil drops its lurker’s veil, where death births something fascinating and new, where lovers are found and something wicked hides. Welcome to the quaint town of Bristleburg. Nestled against the lovely Blue Ridge mountains, laying within the Shenandoah Valley, a quintessential slice of historic Virginia. Rich in history and lush in blood and lust and pain and glory. It may be sick, convoluted, scary, horrific and twisted, but it is real and completely beautiful. Walk with me. Come. jKb |

Aparição | by Renato Carreira March 22, 2012 | 4478 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Renato Carreira nasceu no planeta Terra no final do segundo milénio contado a partir do nascimento de Jesus Cristo. |

Star Sign Stories: Entertaining Tales Of Astrological Proportions: Volume One Aries | by Lyvea Rose March 21, 2012 | 18557 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Lyvea Rose is an Oz astrologer. Her columns appear each month in the prestigious magazine “Holistic Blissâ€, based in Queensland, and she is the chief astrologer for “Your Stars†magazine, published by the Psychic Club of Australia. Her articles also appear at www.satya.centre.com, based in the USA. Earlier in life, she wrote scripts and comedies for the stage. This is Lyvea’s first book. It’s a cross between a DIY manual entitled: “How to Love Your Star Sign: I Mean, What Have You Got To Lose? You Can’t Change It Now,†and a series of supernatural adventure stories bursting with big astrological insights expressed in the shortest and sweetest sentences possible. (Apart from the long ones, like that one.) Lyvea often finds herself embroiled in multiple and complex thought processes, like: “Hmmm...Is it possible to edit this blurb and harvest this wheatgrass at the same time? And why is my life purpose in the toaster specifically?â€And yet she managed to write this book with just two simple goals in mind: (1) to light up all your laughter chakras; and (2) to provide you with something to give to anyone around you who finds it difficult to groove along with your celestial vibe, even though they love you to bits. |
