Nearly Departed by Max Patrick Schlienger Nearly Departed by Max Patrick Schlienger April 14, 2012 79243 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Since he first learned to speak, Max Patrick Schlienger has been telling stories. Unfortunately, despite having been given ample opportunity and encouragement, he has yet to master the art of shutting the hell up. In an effort to avoid being completely shunned by his friends and family, Max finally took to writing his stories down. He intends to continue in the glamorous profession of making stuff up until such time as the position of Superman becomes available. When he's not wasting time on the Internet or pretending to understand elements of theoretical physics, Max can often be found making short films, singing acappella music, and participating in ill-conceived culinary experimentation. He lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area, where a video game company pays him to break things and then brag about it. There is no currently-existing evidence to refute Max's claims of his own immortality, insofar as he is not yet dead.

Author bio:
Who am I? I write a series of fiction stories surrounding the adventures of Victoir and Sam. Who are they? Well one is a spy the other a thief. They tried to go to dinner and well stuff happens… I started writing when I was a wee little one. Actually, I was storyboarding before I wrote. I’d draw these intricate battle scenes with high tech sci-fi Battlestar Galatica influences. When I got older I started writing stories about the main character in these battles. I still have the original story written on legal pad paper in pen, its old yellowing and crumbling but all the originals are there. Well fast forward many years later and I’m writing proposals, reports, fiction, sometimes they are one in the same. You know how that is. I did some copywriting, a newsletter and now I’m just writing for fun. I write stories in horror, romance, and action adventure. I also write on Protagonize.com a collaborative writing site.
My High School Reunion by Wm. G. Thilgen Jr. (Bill) My High School Reunion by Wm. G. Thilgen Jr. (Bill) April 11, 2012 1862 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
William Guy Thilgen Jr. (Bill) is a 63 years old semi-retired former native of St. Paul, Minnesota commonly known as the Twin Cities. He is the middle child of seven, with three older step-sisters, two younger brothers and a baby sister: William currently resides in Las Vegas, NV. He and his wife Rosa plan to retire to Mazatlan, Mexico, in a few years. Prior to his present career as a security officer at a major casino in Las Vegas, William followed his grandfather's footsteps as a professional truck driver. A career that allowed him to see parts of the country, taste various foods and to partake in a variety of adventures whenever he happen across them. During those years he considered himself to be a professional tourist. William attributes his imagination and story-telling ability to the fact that, like most children during his youth, he grew up in a large family in a small house with no room to play indoors. Most children of that era grew up playing outdoors. He and his friends would spend hours and hours finding things to do, and on occasion making up their own adventures. As William aged he learned to view life as series of adventures. It was on one such adventure in the winter of 1994-- he met Patte.

Destiny and the Ice Cream Man by James Hampton Destiny and the Ice Cream Man by James Hampton April 04, 2012 9436 words Read a sample
Author bio:
So who is this guy? First, I'm someone who, over the years, has found himself thrilled, shocked, moved, unnerved, startled, intrigued, baffled, and swept away by a variety of stories from all corners of the human imagination; stories that reached me in nearly every form—books, movies, the spoken word—a story can take. What did my favorite works all have in common? Not a thing, other than that a person took his or her love of language and used it to make a world so astounding I had to visit it again and again. Second, I'm someone who enjoyed my trips to these worlds so much that, after awhile, I decided to try creating a few of my own. Since 2007 I have managed to generate an average of one novel or novella-length story each year, as well as a handful of short stories to accompany them, which I hope to make available here really soon. Finally, I'm someone who loves to be amazed. Aren't we all? And the best way I've found to stay in perpetual amazement is to always keep learning, exploring, listening, and searching. You'll never grow old, at least not in your mind, so long as you're greedy for new knowledge and experiences. Deep thoughts from a man who uses a piece of cake for his profile picture.

She developed a passion for comics and taught herself how to draw. She continued writing poetry throughout her teen years and began writing her first novel after her daughter was born. Although her writing slowed and she had another child, this time a son, she never gave up the passion that brewed inside her. Now, living in Pennsylvania, her children are older and her job is more flexible. She has the time to dedicate to her long love of writing. Christine still makes time for drawing, as her son is into anime and challenges her to put the things on paper that he likes most. She has a photo album on Facebook dedicated to her art. Christine is currently working on 3 novels, all started long ago. The 2 she wrote in her early twenties, inspired by her daughter, and the one she recently began brainstorming, are all fiction novels and should be completed by years end.
