The Book Of Nothing by John Porter The Book Of Nothing by John Porter Feb. 27, 2012 2984 words Read a sample
Author bio:
John Porter spent his childhood growing up amongst the fruit orchards of North Kent, and after leaving grammar school, gained his horticultural qualifications at Hadlow College near the historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells. He migrated to Australia at the age of nineteen, with his first wife, in 1980. Although deriving his main income over the years from employment in the plant industry and from his own wholesale and retail nurseries, John has always maintained the keen interest in words and storytelling that was first fired up by his father’s vast collection of books, and an enigmatic and inspirational English teacher at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Faversham. John has written for many local organisations and groups in his native England, as well as preparing a number of public documents for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the 1980’s. He has contributed many poems and short stories to various publications in England and Australia over the years, including meditations for The Upper Room – an international, non-denominational Christian booklet. The self-published autobiography, "The Road Less Travelled" (2008), was John’s first major book, and describes in fascinating detail the journey he took over three continents during his first fifty years. It is now available from Smashwords and includes many personal photographs of his journey through his first half-century. Since then he has also self-published an anthology of poems entitled "Out Of My Head", and an account of a whirlwind seven-day visit to the UK, called "Turning The Page", which humorously describes the brushes he experienced with the history, geography and sociology of his original homeland. "The Collector" is John’s first full-length novel, and will be released later in 2012. He has published a series of ten short stories with the theme of 'Dirt', which are gathered in a compilation entitled "A Collection Of Dirty Little Stories" which is available at Smashwords. A companion volume called "The Cutest Little Animal Horror Stories", published earlier has already proved very popular with readers. The author now lives and writes in a garden centre in rural New South Wales, Australia, which he runs and owns with his present wife, drawing inspiration for his books from the Australian bush, the daily customers, and the host of chickens, birds, dogs, cats, rabbits and guineapigs which are bred on the premises, as well as his own lunacy.

Justin Joe Sherman is a native son of the South and writer of Christian suspense fiction. He lives in Mississippi with a wonderful family and a dog-muse named Samuel. Although his wife is a descendant of the family haunted by the Bell Witch of Tennessee, he is weary of the multitude of stories where dark forces rule. The good news is that in the Bible it is clear: God wins in the end! Justin loves to write stories about God helping His children shackle the dark forces. He will soon be releasing _Strengthen Your Sketchy Faith_, a composite of short stories and Bible lessons aimed at helping young adults cope with a world that constantly bombards them with tough choices. Author bio:
This bio is about both Susan and Sabrina. Around 2007 or so, the LORD brought together two people from two different parts of the globe, one in the U.S. and the other in Belgium. Sabrina, Belgium, and I, Susan, U.S. became friends because I had posted some information about GOD online and I received an email from her about it. I was involved in church outreach at the time and she was having struggles in a very secular region of the world with outreach. I felt the LORD wanted me to support her as she and I both struggled with issues of outreach in our communities, thus began a wonderful friendship, but we did not know that GOD had bigger plans for our lives. Sabrina had the unique gift of being able to hear the voice of the LORD and I totally believed and supported her gift. Then recently she let me know that the LORD had a gift for me, I soon found out that the gift was also hearing the voice of the LORD, I started to write down letters HE gave me recently and I have been filling many notebook pages. The messages are very, very serious, the LORD told us we needed to get these messages out without delay–so here are the letters I received, you can read more about us at the bottom of this message. Please pass this message on to whomever you think needs to read this. Then I, Sabrina, asked the LORD what about your, Susan’s, letters: “I have spoken to her so she might learn to understand MY Voice. Send the word out about MY soon coming. Don’t be shy about a thing. The world must get penetrated with MY words. Everybody must know that I am coming very soon. Many do know, but are not ready. Therefore send out MY words! Send them out & don’t be shy about a thing.” Then the LORD said: “This refers also to you, me, Sabrina, MY daughter, don’t be shy about a thing any more. Do it soon!” Our personal background info: Hello. MY name is Sabrina. Let me introduce myself a bit. I became a Christian in 1992. God has done a huge job in me concerning emotional recovery. It has been an intense, difficult, painful and long journey, but it has led to an intense wonderful intimate friendship with God. God has been MY perfect counselor. He has treated me with His tender care, wisdom and especially a lot of patience. God’s heart’s desire was and is intimacy with His children and this also became MY heart’s desire. I learned to hunger and thirst for everything from Him. I learned to worship Him in all MY circumstances, no matter how I felt. I learned to have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit and I discovered that it was He who spoke to me in MY mind. I created a deep respect for Him and invited Him every day in MY prayers to fill and lead me completely. I did everything not to hurt Him. One day in 2006 God started talking to me about His soon coming. The Lord has also told me that the fact I always hear His Voice, is His gift of grace for me. Later I understood that this gift would also be used in the prophetic and encouraging field for other people. But the principal of this gift was, that He would use me in this end-time to speak about His soon coming. In April 2008 God told me it was important to spend much time with Him. This desire grew also in MY heart more and more and the Lord said to me that this was also His desire and His Holy Spirit’s. From then on I put a number of specific days for Him separately during the week. I filled these days with prayer, Bible reading, reading books, listening to good Bible studies on the internet, worship, etc. But it also happened that the Holy Spirit urged me to go to evangelize to someone. Heaven is too real for me, time too short and the exhortations of the Lord too strong for something else to do. On January 6 2010, I had a prophetic rapture dream. Though I was engaged much in these matters, I had not received many rapture dreams. This was MY second. The Lord explained that His Coming will be sudden, with great power, followed by immediate panic and chaos. On May 25 2010, God gave me an important dream of the bride. The explanation was this: “It is important for MY Bride to prepare herself. Behold, I come quickly and then there will be no more time to make up. MY Bride must prepare now. Be ready! I am ready. “God spoke in a serious tone! On July 9 2010, God gave me an encouraging word. Here is an excerpt from the letter: ‘MY dear daughter, write it down. Know that everything here is as good as ready. There is nothing stopping ME to come for MY bride. Everything is ready. The table for the eternal marriage stands ready. The angels are on post. Everyone is rejoiced & enthusiast! Oh what a joy it will be when I come for MY bride! I want you to encourage each other with these words. It is only the grace of MY Father who holds the sound of the trumpet. Millions of people are still lost.‘ In all those years, I have received many confirmations whenever the Holy Spirit talked to me, through the bible, books or other people’s testimony, preaching, teachings. MY only goal is to be completely obedient to Him. MY days are completely for Him, as I don’t go to work. I keep praying for everyone I witness to, take daily communion, just spent all MY time for & with the Lord. Thank you for taking the time to read all this, so you know MY walk with Him is serious. May the Lord bless you all! Sabrina De Muynck. jan.sabrina@pandora.be You can find more information out about me, Susan Davis, and MY relationship with the LORD by checking out the following websites: http://end-times-prophecy.com/blog/ http://sites.advancedministry.com/lovethewhirlwind And MY email is: lovethewhirlwind@sbcglobal.net

Joe Biancardi spent most of his life in St. Louis where he grew up and worked as a policeman, engineer and a salesman trying to find his niche in life. At the age of forty he took his new wife to the gulf coast of Alabama where he raised his three children. “We didn’t realize we’d be trading cold winters for a hurricane prone area. Now, years later he admits the trade-off was worth it. “It’s allowed me to see what the powers of Mother Nature are capable of: from the ferocity of hurricanes to the relaxing sound of the surf at Florida and Alabama beaches. Now almost twenty-five years later he’s retired and found his calling. He writes books dealing with the power of intention as well as other adventure stories. My children and grandchildren used to ask me to tell them a story. Now I put these stories into a book form, living the adventures in my recliner. He is co-founder of the HeartMind Institute where he works with people, teaching them how to expand their heart's energy field. I will continue to keep the books I publish, that are about the human spirit and powers of intention, FREE. I welcome questions and comments about my books.

Author bio:
Christopher Stewart loves to try his hand at various artistic endeavours, but if there's one discipline he's perfecting, it must be the art of blooming late. He has studied for a long time, played football even longer, spent a significant part of his adult life developing software on a full-time basis and invested what remained in the pursuit of his ideal of creating meaningful music in the context of a rock ensemble. He has founded the prolific yet still album-less Quebec-based progressive rock outfit Poligraf in 1998 and has never been quite the same since. He has been practising Buddhism dead-seriously since the mid 90s, until he finally awakened to the fact that it teaches living happiness. His interests range from psychology, physics, and philosophy, to mysticism, divination, the arts and the creative process, and, obviously, multitasking and clichés. Pick any task, tag it with the word « impossible, » assign it to him, and he’ll be hard at work for years before the first suspicion finally pops in his mind.

I have been creating things for as long as I can remember. Everything from paintings and sculptures to novels. Creativity is such an important part of my life that I can't imagine not getting up every day with some artistic project to do. Writing a novel had always been a goal of mine but I never actually sat down to do it until 2007 when I wrote The Cat Factory. After that I was hooked. Next came It's All About The Gravy and Ripples. For years I studied spirituality and had just finished getting a masters in the Paranormal, therefore I wrote about spiritual transformations. My goal was to help people. It always has been. And I truly hope any of my stories will help you, if not in a spiritual way, then just to enjoy. After years of writing about spirituality I wanted to try something different. My friends tease me and say that I've gone over to the dark side. Not really. Though my newest novel, The Contraption, does explore the dark side of human nature it also brings in my love for the paranormal and some really strong spiritual ideas, like watch what you think about, it may come true. Writing The Contraption was so much fun and I hope anyone who reads it will have fun, get scared, wonder and be immersed in something new and different. After all, that's really what it's all about. Like my stories, the paranormal has many sides. There's the happy, spiritual side. The realm of miracles, angels, life after death, hope, healing, wonder and love. On the other side of the paranormal there's mystery, intrigue, and the unknown. It brings in magic and psychics and witches and black cats. It makes you wonder and question. I guess that's what I love about it most. In the end the paranormal is something that can never be proven to exist or not to exist. Whether it lifts you up and makes you feel good or it scares the heck out of you, hopefully it entertains you!

A published writer for over 30-years, I’ve finally decided to go into semi-retirement. Although I’ve worked mainly in comics, I’ve also worked in TV and radio and as a scriptwriter for animation studios. I also I spent two years as a gag writer submitting jokes to a number of comedians, even when they begged me not to. Finally, I’ve dabbled in the arcane arts of gonzo journalism. A devoted fan of the late Hunter S. Thompson I’ve attempted to emulate the gonzo style. On the other hand I never acquired Hunter’s voracious appetite for mind bending substances. Well, let’s just say I’ve never taken as many as he did.

Author bio:
I am a 22 year-old hippie who is just discovering what life really is. My heart is entrenched in novel writing. I am pursuing a dream of being a full-time novelist. It's the beginning of a journey that I have always dreamed of. I have risen from a dark childhood of domestic violence. I faced that monster in my closet and am now writing about it. I watched my mother be tortured for almost ten years. I stood before the remnants of the house her ex burned down in a drunken rage. I lived with the aftermaths and the damage it did in the years that followed. Now, I am chasing dreams and living my life to the fullest.Through my writing I want to be an advocate for domestic violence and child abuse, to speak out and be a voice. I am engaged to a wonderful man I met while working on the college newspaper. I am a journalism grad, a journalist, a sister younger and older, a daughter to a survivor of a mother and my angel daddy, a niece and a soon-to-be wife. I have been writing since I could put a pencil to paper it seems. My first writings were short stories rewriting fairy tales in ways I envisioned them to play out. Poetry was something that intrigued me in junior high school. An interest in Shakespeare came in high school when I attended an outreach school in grades 11 and 12. I was permitted to study on my own and got to drift around with different areas on top of the curriculum already in place. Shakespeare and forensics became the two main things I studied there. It was through Shakespeare's MacBeth and an essay assignment that I got interested in the witch hunts and trials of the 16th and 17th centuries, igniting the idea for the Spellbound series. In 2011, I set a goal. After graduating from college, I set out to publish two of my books. One is my poetry book about domestic violence and child abuse, "She Wasn't Allowed to Giggle" and the other is the first in a series, "Spellbound by Fire." My poetry book was self-published back in September and "Spellbound" was published in December. With that goal out of the way, I am setting my sights once again on my journalism career while trying to make it big with publishing my books.

Some degrees in physics, some time in research laboratories and thatched hut villages, some teaching in universities and management in international technology: all sound like credentials to lend credibility to the role of author. But such experiences provide only tools and terminology and opportunity, not wisdom and insight. You and I share the same foundation for whatever wisdom and insight we may glean out of life, the joys and grief, the celebrations and hunger that make up daily living. I hope through this book my knowledge of physics and funerals, science and spirit, quanta and cultures, can help you bridge the illusory gap between intellect and heart. If so, that will happen not through transfer of wisdom, but through an opening of windows to allow realization of your own wisdom. Questioning "what" and "how" led me to universities and degrees in physics. Questioning "why" led me to cathedral and temple and mosque. I have been blessed to learn from a winner of the Einstein Award and from village shamans. But such learning seems inconsequential in comparison to life's lessons: the grim look on the face when after the wreck you ask "will she be OK?"...the feel of the hospital sheets after the stroke...and every warm embrace and authentic smile and sincere welcome. I am grateful to professors and priests, research centers and jungle shrines. But they provide only the paint color to be applied to the structure built of the scope of real life, built of pets and people, love and loneliness, homes and hospitals. I pray my degrees and travel, survival and losses that led to my books can bring a little light to your very real life and reveal to you the brightness of your heart's wisdom and the Source awaiting our discovery.
