Author bio:
aloha, I was born in Providence, Rhode Island but began a life of many moves soon thereafter (3 high schools, 2 junior high schools...even 2 kindergardens). I kept moving in a westerly direction until I reached Hawaii. If I moved any further west it'd be east so I returned to California (& gave up a Hemenway scholarship from UH). Spent too much time in competitive athletic endeavors (I was told I was the only history major at La Crosse State U. I was there to play baseball at a very good phy-ed school). Yes, history was my major but you can do only 2 things with a history degree: teach or write. I wasn't ready to do either so I ended up as a pysch nurse (after doing this and that). My motto: Life is serious but...you cannot take it seriously. I've always been interested in people and the human condition and I have the gift of wonder (ex. if wisdom is important why does our culture - and others - ignore it and not esteem it? Our educational system doesn't even teach it in philosophy classes ['No more Kant and the color red already!]). Hence (or is it ergo?), I've matured enough to devote myself to the scribbling craft. Mahalo, Peter

Amorphous Angelic, Selected Poems by Jacqueline Howett Amorphous Angelic, Selected Poems by Jacqueline Howett Jan. 18, 2011 4353 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Jacqueline Howett was born in 1954 and educated in London, England. Her parents divorced when she was twelve years old. Her mother, Leila, a Greek lady, who worked in the London Fashion world, gave her the gift of another language. Her father, Leslie W. Howett, a naturalist and gifted artist who came from Kent, England met Leila while serving in the RAF in Greece. At sixteen Jacqueline Howett began her own travels of the world as a dancer. At eighteen she begun writing her autobiography living at sea while married to a Greek chief officer. After her adventures as a sea captains wife, London, Europe & America became Jacqueline's playground. The changing scenery in London, from the late seventies to the mid eighties with the novelty of Arabs giving out easy money while they became educated had followed, but the left-over stench in the air of the Iran war made many flee to the suburbs of London, or the countryside. Heavy metal bands, drugs, the AID scares and the confusing beginnings of the first computers taking over that empted the paper shelves to discs, were all part of the horrors that made her flee to North Wales where she continued to edit her novel, Cass. Again, she had to flee from there due to the Welsh politics of the time, burning the British bought homes. Who knew? Since 1989, she continued her writing living in the U.S.A. After living in Florida and California, she became a US citizen in Tampa, Florida, in April 1993 and there after settled in Maine for twelve years. She returned to Florida to live in 2002. "Amorphous Angelic" selected poems are now available in libraries and is now available as an E-book. (Check her blog for updates). It was written from 1983-1985 in London, England during her own rebirth, while in a celibate/hermit repose. They remain her most memorable poems. Several poetry video readings are up on YouTube or her blog. It was a time Howett seriously began to dedicate herself to her life's works in a mature form, writing in her London sanctuary; plays, poetry, novels, reading the classics, and dabbling with musical instruments, and listening to classical music for a period, after placing rock n roll on hold. It was also a time of reconnecting to her creative spirit within a state of celibacy, through a very drastic death/rebirth experience that she vaguely explains in her novel CASS. Some of Jacqueline's early reading Influences came from biographies, and many of the classics. Wordsworth, Coleridge, the Persian and Middle Eastern Poets, Kurt Vonnegut, Mary Renault, Oscar Wilde, Euripides, Henrick Ibsen, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Gustave Flaubert, Guy de Maupassant, Shakespeare, Homer, Steinbeck, William Golding, H.G. Wells, D.H. Lawrence, John Milton, Shelly, Robert Lewis Stevenson, Rudyard Kipling, Daphne Dumaurier, John Paul Sartre, Hermann Hesse, E.M. Forster, Mark Twain, Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, George Sands, Sylvia Plath, Edga Allan Poe, Chaucer, John Milton, Arthur Miller, Chekhov, Aeschylus, Euripides and Faulkner are to mention just a few. A new process in her own metamorphosis began her transition to terra firma, with her letting go of her old emotional ties to Europe, and to finally start living in more awareness the American life after completing her novels, The Greek Seaman and Cass. Both these novels took place in Europe. It seems strange to say, how she never realized to her fullest that she was living in America while writing them. Her third novel is now in first draft and takes place in America. Her poems from the book Amorphous Angelic were dedicated to her father, who visited her in America in the year 2000, who she had not seen in twenty years. Jacqueline was inspired to compile Amorphous Angelic for publishing while living in Maine, after her Greek born Mother died in 1996 in London. Her second major novel, Cass, is still in the works. Also several other projects are in the works, including another poetry book titled, Sands Of Time, and MY GREEKSIDE. Jacqueline is also an artist. She has appeared in group and solo exhibitions, and her art works are in private collections.

Snip by George Morrow Snip by George Morrow Nov. 22, 2010 2764 words Read a sample
Author bio:
"George with his friends Snip and pup Sierra." George was raised climbing the mountains and fishing the lakes and streams of the Sierra Nevada mountains. At a young age he started to appreciate the value of the unspoiled beauty of the wilderness. To this day he continues to appreciate the beauty of the earth and the life that is upon it. Many of the stories he has written are first hand experiences, such as the lady bugs hatching on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe - as is talked about in The Little Helper. After a tour in Vietnam, George married his wife, Jean, who has been a great benefit to George in his writings and life. George and Jean toured the U.S. and Canada for several months in their VW van seeking a place to raise a family. But nothing was as appealing as their own back yard of Nevada with its desert valleys and high mountains. Now married 39 years, the Morrows reside on a small farm in Fallon, Nevada where they have raised four sons: Jeremy, Jake, Josh and Jesse. George says with a smile, "It's hard not to be happy when you have everything." George is much like anyone else; he's a dreamer about a lot of things, but he is also a doer. When he sets his mind to it, few things stand in the way to get the results he desires. Many of George's dreams have already come true. For instance, when he recently cut a CD at Opal Studios in Portland, Oregon with songs he has written, with his sons accompanying him on instruments, George's heart swelled with joy. By completing this project, he brought closure to a statement he had been wanting to make, mostly to himself. "I've been waiting since I was 12 years old to record in a sound studio, but you know," George says with a smirk, "I'm just going to have to come to grips with the fact that I probably won't ever be a great songwriter like Bob Dylan or a guitarist like Eric Clapton." He laughs like a little boy, "But a storyteller? That's something I can do." Indeed, George is a wonderful storyteller! Whether he's conveying his very first composition about Emily the Goose, or telling about one of his real-life adventures exploring Tahoe, George entertains, evokes emotion, and even teaches. George's motivation is to produce children's literature that elevates values. He also desires to highlight awareness of children's development, as well as their wit and humor. George has a great respect for a child's perspective on nature; the pure relationship of the two is an ongoing theme in his writing.

After serving in the army from 1961-63 Terry opted out of the flight training which would have had him flying helicopters in the Vietnam War and chose to commence Law school instead. Terry studied Law at The University of California Los Angeles for three years and completed a Bachelor of Laws, and subsequently a Juris Doctorate (Doctor of Law) in 1966. Terry practiced law in his own law firm for several years in California before emigrating to New Zealand in 1973. In New Zealand, he completed a Masters Degree in Psychology at Massey University in 1976. Between the years of 1976 and 1981, Terry travelled widely and also operated and owned a vegetarian restaurant. He moved to Australia in 1981. For almost 25 years, he consulted to Federal and State Governments in Australia, utilising his expertise in Organisational Psychology and developing programs regarding implementing change and making transitions more bearable for employees. We read expecting to find a book or a text and are surprised to find a person - paraphrased from a French writer. I love to write fiction and I would catagorize my work as literary fiction filled with romance, action and mystery. "Anna, Wake Up" qualifies as women's fiction. If these kinds of ebooks interest you follow me on Facebook, Goodreads, and twitter..I'm mostly on Facebook though. :) "I hope you enjoy reading my work just as much as I enjoyed writing it." -Stacy

Author bio:
I have been on a personal development mission for almost 20 years, occasionally taking several steps forward and some backwards. Being an Australian I am very loyal to this great country. My long term goal is to spend time traveling this vast country whilst delivering seminars and offering services to those in outback communities which are usually long forgotten about. I have what many call a disillusioned goal of stepping foot in every national park on this con tenant. I regularly spend time sitting and walking in nature, I usually do this alone as the rest of my family don't share my love of the forests, but being able to sit and listen without any interruption is the way I like it..
