Lyrical Ramblings | by Stacy Stutz Feb. 05, 2012 | 4213 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Hi there! I never can seem to write a formal personal bio that is to my liking; it simply isn’t in my nature to be staid and proper and furthermore, referring to myself as “she†drives me a bit nuts. I’ve read that you should put your name in your bio as often as possible to drive traffic your way, I’m not interested in a virtual freeway, I much prefer the slower pace of winding roads with glorious vista’s unfolding over the rise. At heart, I am a poet; I would have my readers be those that also enjoy the journey, that take joy in life’s small moments of discovery. I am content that those who find me are those who pulled off life’s busy freeway even for a moment or two. I’m a mom, a wife, an avid reader, a writer and a poet – longest being the poet or perhaps the avid reader. My first (and so far only) contribution here at Smashwords is more of a biography that I could every write here. Lyrical Ramblings is the compilation of decades of poetic musings – they are as mercurial as a woman’s moods; they are the reflection of who I was, who I am and who I strive to be. Thank you to those of you who have downloaded my work and even more to those of you who have taken the time to leave a review! Currently, I’m working on a compilation of quirky short stories and hope to have them available in early Spring of 2012. Also, you should check out Mike Stutz's writings. No doubt I am biased, but he is a fantastic writer. ~Stacy |

Fantasies of the Waking Dreamer | by K.W. McCabe Feb. 02, 2012 | 881 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: K.W. McCabe is a Californian transplant to Minnesota. She lives there with her family where she tries very hard to stay warm in all the snow. She has loved fairy tales, Sci-fi, and fantasy all her life, and has been writing stories and poems of that nature since she could first spell. She has worked, in the past, as a library assistant, a baby sitter, a counseling hotline intern, and as a case manager. She maintains that art and writing can only be done when inspired, and inspiration comes from a sufficient amount of laziness. Currently, she is working on a teen dragon romance novel, The Dragon's Call. Check out her blog to get more information on how to read it for free. | Author bio: I love to read and I also love to write when I get this feeling to put my thoughts and emotions into words. Writing is just a hobby for me and I guess it will probably remain this way. Most of the time I write short stories but maybe I have enough ideas someday to write a real novel. I normally write my stuff in German but I started to write in English more often lately. So I hope you excuse grammar mistakes I make and tell me when you have found one. You can join me on my Facebook page and leave comments (link below). |

Moldable Youth: A Collection of Poetry and Prose | by Amy Tuso Jan. 22, 2012 | 3453 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Amy Tuso writes stories about high school because she knows the importance, value and overall impact those four short years have on all of us. She remembers high school in graphic detail, yet chooses to still spend her days within it halls. She is a social worker specializing in substance abuse and violence prevention in a high school setting. She has found that in high school what is normal becomes grey and is based more in perception than reality. Her stories represent both the perceptions and the realities of growing up; they are a journey through clichés, brutal honesty and true friendship. She believes that what doesn’t destroy us makes us stronger, but being strong doesn’t mean having all the answers. |

Organic Leaves Haiku | by Samantha MC Luck Jan. 17, 2012 | 172 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Intuitive adults, annoyed older siblings, and patient parents knew that Samantha M.C. Luck would grow up to be a writer. As a small child, her stories went on and on and on and on… “And thennn,†she would repeat in the middle of mental paragraphs until the story was completely told. They all knew her path before she did. It wasn’t until her fourth grade project to write, illustrate, and display her own book that she knew she was born to be a writer. She presented to her class her own version of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. It was full of fun, fear, love, and candy, plenty of candy!! Many years later, Samantha, raised in Southeast, D.C., and Prince George’s County, Maryland, went on to pursue a degree in journalism-magazine production at Florida A&M University and earned her M.B.A. at Trinity (Washington) University. Writing remained her passion as she continued through school. She wrote for her college’s newspaper and magazine. She interned at the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper, freelanced for The Washington Informer Newspaper, conducted interviews, and wrote articles for ShowOff Magazine (a Bermuda publication), and JukeBoxDC.com, an internationally known music blog. Samantha has had the opportunity to interview several artists and influential figures from Talib Kweli, Ryan Leslie, Dawn Richard, to Teedra Moses, Anthony Hamilton, and Doug E. Fresh. While interviewing is fun for Samantha because she loves to listen and ask questions, she has brought her focus back to her first love–creative writing. Organic Leaves is a story Samantha developed over the course of a few years, building from her own experiences, the universal of experiences of young women in college, and the secret trials that are inevitable for most of them. Samantha created an imaginative story of love, pain, paralyzing fear, and exciting rebellion. She wrote the book to bring many issues to light and to share that we, as a community, are not so different from each other. Samantha currently works in trade publishing and is working on her second novel. |

Being a child of culturally Deaf parents has given me what I think is a unique perspective on the world, and I hope it shows in my work. Follow my blog, The Fraser File, for updates on upcoming works, and a little Deaf awareness. You may even find some reviews of other books and local underground music. R. M. Fraser |

I play guitar and I write music - well, I've written two songs and just like Kylie, I just can't get them outta my head.
