Having Their Baby | by Jayton Young May 20, 2012 | 14978 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I am a stay at home mother of three that has always loved coming up with stories. Since high school, I have loved to both read and write all genres of stories. I have a couple of earlier works that I loved, but learned a lot from, so hopefully my writing reflects that. As my children have gotten older and now all have their own things to do, they have encouraged me in my dream of becoming an author. I have really great feedback from my readers before I even publish the finalized manuscripts, so I really hope that the readers who buy my books enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them. |

The hungry lion and the donkey | by Tales By Roohi May 19, 2012 | 1201 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: A long, long time ago; legends and folk tales were used by people as a way of captivating the imagination of children and adults alike. Elders would use stories in order to impart the ways of the community, wisdom and morals to the rest and thereby also fostering a strong community spirit. I have always been fascinated by mythology and being born in Kenya, the connection to Africa has also been strong. Africa is a melting pot of thousands of different communities with their own specific cultures, traditions and stories! However most of these stories were never written and over time communities have started to lose their stories. I came to Cape Town, South Africa on a corporate secondment and the existence of so many different tribes just within South Africa intrigued me. I realised that a lot of the culture and traditions that used to be in existence several years ago, had gradually diminished over time. This project was borne as a result; with the aim of preserving the stories, legends and folk tales of some of the South African cultures through children. It is hoped that these books will help the youth of South Africa to re-connect with their cultures as well as to raise awareness and tolerance of others. Through sales of this book, I hope to raise funding in order to donate printed books to needy children in less privileged schools. Some of these stories have been collected through interacting with the local communities and others through research. Due to the lack of historic documented records as well as evolution and adaptation of some of the stories over time; it is difficult to guarantee the originality and uniqueness of the stories. The stories gathered have been further adapted to make them more captivating for today’s children. |

TV Torment | by Saul Moon May 19, 2012 | 16705 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: My writing genres are mystery and crime, with a little bit of romance, of course. 'The Scorpian Visitant' is an epic fantasy / mystery novel in which sixties teenagers Robbie Higgins and Louise Carlton travel to medieval Oakwood to find the Death Stone of Izar. On their fantastic Odessey they find love and the reality of their mysterious origins... I also write short stories. ‘Switch’ a romantic mystery has been very well received since its publication as a free e-book on Smashwords. ‘Vacant Possession’ is a short story about a poltergeist that moves from haunting a house to possessing the estate agent who is selling the property. Another short story 'You'll Never Walk Alone' concerns a man who is too scared to tell his wife that he is about to lose his job. With little prospect of employment and many debts his family faces disaster. The tale twists at the end where the fate of protagonist meets that of the boss who persecutes him. Currently I am working on my Lucy Harlow crime short stories. The first 'Oxygen Restriction' sees our budding detective embroiled in a story of fetish and murder. This was published on Friday 20 April. The next three 'TV Torment', 'Opera Flowers' and 'Summer Soldier' are written and see our feisty young private detective on the trail of the worst kind of of serial murderers. 'Northern Star' - a blackmail story with a twist - has been completed. These stories will be published throughout 2012, with 'TV Torment' out on 19 May. Another important story for me features a central character in Oxygen Restriction, David Black. 'Double' is the story of a sucessful man haunted by his double. A disturbing mystery out in the summer. Please feel free to contact me on Twitter or Facebook. I have also have a blog, see the hyperlink. Regards and best wishes Saul |

Playing with Tigers; Broken | by S. Hart May 18, 2012 | 6015 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: S. Hart is a horrible soulless individual. Her bitterness is only surmounted by her passion for writing, and her attention to plot and dialogue, even if her work reads as if the reader is being thrown down a flight of stairs (Working on that.). Of the very few things she does enjoy, writing is by far the one that she indulges the most, usually putting in an eight hour day despite the lack of pay and the progressive insanity that it brings. She lives almost entirely on coffee, which she insists is a major food group, and will likely die of a caffeine overdose within the next ten minutes if her clumsiness doesn't get her first. As with many writers, she is extremely critical of her work. If not for the constant coaxing of friends, you wouldn't be reading this right now, because her work would still be sitting in the folder with the other four unpublished but completed novels that she's written in the last three years. There were more, but her unhealthy love of porn murdered the previous computer, and all were mercifully killed. Despite the nature of her most recent novel and her previously mentioned affinity for porn, most of her work is purely science fiction/fantasy based. Look for future releases from S. Hart within the year. |
