Lord Rama: The Shelter for the Saints by Krishna's Mercy Lord Rama: The Shelter for the Saints by Krishna's Mercy Jan. 06, 2011 31405 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Krishna’s Mercy is a nonprofit organization established to serve Lord Krishna. Our primary activity is to serve Lord Krishna with our thoughts, words and deeds as much as we can. Though He may be referred to by different names such as Jesus, Allah, or Krishna, God is one. Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as mentioned in the ancient Vedic texts of India. Mankind can attribute all of its suffering due to forgetfulness of his relationship to God. We are all constitutionally spirit souls, but from time immemorial we are associating ourselves with our physical bodies in this material world. Thus the soul has been transmigrating from one body to another through the laws of karma. This human form of life is our opportunity to break out of this cycle of birth and death and return to our original home, with Krishna, or God.

Bible Basics by Duncan Heaster Bible Basics by Duncan Heaster Jan. 05, 2011 136328 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Originally from the UK, Duncan Heaster is pastor of a large church in Riga, Latvia. Having written over 20 books and having edited "Gospel News" magazine for over 20 years, Duncan says that he sees his writing and preaching as merely sowing seed- God's seed, insofar as his writing is a presentation of God's word, the Bible. He feels unable to change anyone by his own argument or words- but is rather simply presenting to them the direct teaching of the Bible, stripped of all human theology and tradition. This has led him to reject popular Christian doctrines such as the trinity, immortal soul, a personal devil, hell as a place of eternal fire. But in their place he presents the real Christ, as Son of God, son of man, Lord and Saviour; who has opened the way to resurrection from the dead in God's Kingdom. Duncan Heaster is married to Cindy and they have a young family. They are well known in the Christadelphian movement, and operate Carelinks Ministries.

Author bio:
Simon Dillon was born the year Steven Spielberg made moviegoers everywhere terrified of sharks, namely 1975. He lived the first twenty or so years of his life in Oxford, and was pleased to have spent so much time in the place where some of his favourite writers wrote their greatest works (including JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis and Phillip Pullman). Things went gradually downhill from there as he attended University in Southampton and afterwards managed to muddle his way into television where he has worked ever since. Simon Dillon likes to think he can write a diverting story, and as a result has penned a few novels. He might be sadly deluded, but that’s for agents and publishers to decide. He currently lives in Plymouth in the UK, and is married with two children. He is looking forward to brainwashing them with the same books that he loved growing up.

Author bio:
Severin Rossetti was a teacher of fine art, but now works in a Liverpool museum/gallery, less money but a lot less stress. At the same time that he turned from teaching fine art, he also turned from its practice -have you seen the crap that passes for fine art these days?!?- to concentrate on writing. After many rejection slips he finally had some encouragement. 'Interesting,' said one editor, 'but it lacks passion. Spice it up a bit.' Which he did, only to be told 'wow!'... 'well!'... 'spiced up, yes, but we can't possibly publish this!' Fortunately, others could, with the result that his erotic stories have been published in the UK and the USA in various magazines and anthologies. Novels and short story collections have also been published in the US by Renaissance Ebooks.com. If the erotic genre is not your thing, however, please note that also available on Smashwords are more 'serious' works, some for sale but many for free. Strange, though, that the erotic genre is proving the most popular, and especially the free ones. So... a cry from the heart... feel free to try the free ones but PLEASE, also, splash out a dollar or two if you can afford it! And if you want to know any more, please contact the author at severinrossetti@aol.com

I must in all honesty, update this entry, for I stumbled onto the magic key to post a story on Smashwords. It was operator error not one of the poltergeist that I’m sure came preloaded in my computer that prevents me from getting what I want from it. For those of you who didn’t read this bio before—which I’m sure includes the rest of the world’s population—I repeat: I am an old man who loves to write. I started decades ago—the exact number is irrelevant—on a cast iron framed manual typewriter that would now serve little purpose beyond a boat anchor. I love composing fiction on the computer, mainly because of the spell check feature. Why someone who can’t spell worth a damn wants to write, I’ll never be able to explain. I take solace in the knowledge that some well-known writers throughout history were so afflicted. However, I must confess, that is about as far as I can go into this—to me—frightening world of cyberspace. I don’t have accounts on face book (wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. Almost nightly the news is filled with stories of people murdered by people they have contacted there.) I feel the same way about Myspace, a blog or personal web site. I don’t tweet or twit or what ever that is. That really seems silly--just call them and talk! So I’ll be contented to write and enjoy retirement until the final heartbeat or wayward city buss runs me over.

Lotus Rose is also the author of MachoPoni: A Prance with Death. He writes about young characters in strange situations. At times dark, silly, or bawdy, his writing owes much to such influences as Alice in Wonderland and Roald Dahl, and explores themes like disillusionment, and the corruption of innocence. If his books were movies, they'd likely be directed by Tim Burton. He often writes in a style that is a more edgy, “grown-up” version of children’s literature interspersed with his poetry and songs. Here's a short poem he wrote: O, shall I be like the lotus, And bring you dark dreams and soft sighs? Or shall I be like the rose is, Sweet-scented and tempting your eyes? For the unending sleep can seduce you, To the world behind unseeing eyes. And the beauty that beckons, then cuts you, Is also the cruelest of lies.

This is a comprehensive biography of: Robert W. Cornell ( Bob) 4401 Pinetree Close Cumming, GA 30041 (770) 781-9613 bobwcornell@comcast.net After attending and graduating from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science in 1961 I chose to become a Technical Representative for W.H. Curtin . W. H. Cutin was a distributor of laboratory apparatus and chemicals. I discovered shortly that Technical Representative was short for salesman in the dialogue of this company, so I began to “push” balances, where much to my surprise I became the leading salesman. I remained with the company until 1970 (61-70) and then entered the field of real estate. I had been told that I would accumulate a vast fortune. Upon spending $10,000.00 and seeing no fortune in sight, I founded my own company in 1972. This company was Jasper Janitorial Services which transformed approximately 15 years thereafter into C/F Janitorial Services. The latter specializes in the restoration (in other words-stripping and waxing)and maintenance of resilient tile flooring. ( the kind of flooring you see in most grocery stores and drug stores). C/F is a small company having only one employee. The following may sound self-serving, but I recently retired from C/F to devote the majority of my time to writing. In view of my lack of knowledge and the access others had to information in this field I began writing in 1996. My research was rather comprehensive and I finally introduced “Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Resilient Tile, But Were Afraid To Ask”. I have self published this work and have sold about 2 dozen copies. Needless to say, the effort on my first work got me “hooked” on writing. Writing is hard work, but I love it. I have written columns for local newspapers, The Forsyth County News, The Forsyth County Forum , and the North Georgia Star. The latter of which I became a columnist. I attend church . (my wife calls me a CE special)!! She sees me attend only on Christmas and Easter. I am married ( 49 years ) and have two great daughters who have given us three wonderful grandchildren. My interests other than writing are 1) inventing stuff for which I have been issued 5 patents 2) collecting VHS videos of which I have approximately 900 3) reading and 4) playing the drums. Although I am a party of one which thinks I am the greatest author in existence, the reality is that I try to be as good a writer as possible.

It was 2006 (or maybe it was 2007) when some irrelevant-to-this-story-things happened and I came to know myself as a writer. Not a writer as I had been: a proposal writer, technical writer, academic writer, but in the far more freeing sense of writing for my own enjoyment. Judging by the children's books I wrote then my newly born inner author had a very happy childhood. As I crafted my small worlds I was reminded again of a mental image that I had carried with me for years, of the woman who sits at the loom that stands at the gate between the worlds, perpetually weaving this one into existence. My Native American friends told me she was Spider Woman in their cultural myths, keeping us all entranced with the very never-endingness of her creations. When I began to think about a modern retelling of this myth, I thought it should be told as a girl's story, but Billy Tsosie, the hero of RIDERS ON THE REZ, took charge of the narrative right away and sent me off on a research quest to learn about Navajo language and customs. Billy has grown up now, and is in pre-med at the University of Arizona (life moves much faster in fiction than in the flesh)and I have moved on to other stories and styles. I look forward to introducing them here on Smashwords as they are ready to be shared,

Hi! I'm Ciera Cunnda. I'm an aspiring writer, but I also have a life. Some of my favorite things to do are listen to music, hang out with my family&friends, go shopping, and sleep. I hope to be a better writer some day, as I realize that some of my work is not the greatest. Hey, that's why they call it 'aspiring'. ~~edit!~~ Yeah, so, I'd just like to clarify that I wrote some of these novellas when I was younger...'cuz somebody pointed out that some of my uploads are kinda bad and others are kinda good...so that's why. :p ~~edit!again!~~ If you have questions or comments, you can email me at cieracunnda@hotmail.com

Interesting face #1: Pete Gustin is legally blind and has been ever since the age of 8. He's never actually "read' a book in his entire life. Books on tape/CD have been his only connection to the world of books. If you wonder why his writing style is so "unique", this might help to explain that. Pete Gustin comes to the literary world by way of radio. He started as a radio announcer in Boston while attending college at the age of 18. His voice can now be heard on over 250 radio stations across the U.S. He is based in Boston and is the Creative Services Director for Sports Radio WEEI and also hosts a daily web-show called The Catch-Up with Pete Gustin which can be seen at www.thecatchuptoday.com
