Dreamer | by Nicki DeLante May 19, 2012 | 1284 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: A simple woman with a less than simple life, and a mind that sometimes runs away with me. Sometimes, when its quiet, and God knows its very rarely quiet where I live, dreams and words meet in my head and flow out of my fingertips. They aren't always graceful, they aren't always eloquent, but when it works... I find that it works well... as ever I can but aspire to be more than what I am, even if it is only in my head. |

The Color of Ash | by Kameko Murakami May 19, 2012 | 7466 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Kameko Murakami is an author and oddball who lives in a somewhat-haunted Victorian in San Francisco, which she shares with a Kitchen God made from various cooking utensils and a candle, a dog which appears out of thin air (but only when it wants to shower in her bathroom), a sometimes roommate who likes to shoot pistols with her eyes closed and far too many dusty books to even bother with counting. She is also dating a Serbian with a handlebar mustache. Furthermore, she is a fan of horseradish cheese and silly biographical information written in the pre-dawn hours. Please stop by her homepage for more writing, cheese and tales of the bizarre. |

The hungry lion and the donkey | by Tales By Roohi May 19, 2012 | 1201 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: A long, long time ago; legends and folk tales were used by people as a way of captivating the imagination of children and adults alike. Elders would use stories in order to impart the ways of the community, wisdom and morals to the rest and thereby also fostering a strong community spirit. I have always been fascinated by mythology and being born in Kenya, the connection to Africa has also been strong. Africa is a melting pot of thousands of different communities with their own specific cultures, traditions and stories! However most of these stories were never written and over time communities have started to lose their stories. I came to Cape Town, South Africa on a corporate secondment and the existence of so many different tribes just within South Africa intrigued me. I realised that a lot of the culture and traditions that used to be in existence several years ago, had gradually diminished over time. This project was borne as a result; with the aim of preserving the stories, legends and folk tales of some of the South African cultures through children. It is hoped that these books will help the youth of South Africa to re-connect with their cultures as well as to raise awareness and tolerance of others. Through sales of this book, I hope to raise funding in order to donate printed books to needy children in less privileged schools. Some of these stories have been collected through interacting with the local communities and others through research. Due to the lack of historic documented records as well as evolution and adaptation of some of the stories over time; it is difficult to guarantee the originality and uniqueness of the stories. The stories gathered have been further adapted to make them more captivating for today’s children. |

TV Torment | by Saul Moon May 19, 2012 | 16705 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: My writing genres are mystery and crime, with a little bit of romance, of course. 'The Scorpian Visitant' is an epic fantasy / mystery novel in which sixties teenagers Robbie Higgins and Louise Carlton travel to medieval Oakwood to find the Death Stone of Izar. On their fantastic Odessey they find love and the reality of their mysterious origins... I also write short stories. ‘Switch’ a romantic mystery has been very well received since its publication as a free e-book on Smashwords. ‘Vacant Possession’ is a short story about a poltergeist that moves from haunting a house to possessing the estate agent who is selling the property. Another short story 'You'll Never Walk Alone' concerns a man who is too scared to tell his wife that he is about to lose his job. With little prospect of employment and many debts his family faces disaster. The tale twists at the end where the fate of protagonist meets that of the boss who persecutes him. Currently I am working on my Lucy Harlow crime short stories. The first 'Oxygen Restriction' sees our budding detective embroiled in a story of fetish and murder. This was published on Friday 20 April. The next three 'TV Torment', 'Opera Flowers' and 'Summer Soldier' are written and see our feisty young private detective on the trail of the worst kind of of serial murderers. 'Northern Star' - a blackmail story with a twist - has been completed. These stories will be published throughout 2012, with 'TV Torment' out on 19 May. Another important story for me features a central character in Oxygen Restriction, David Black. 'Double' is the story of a sucessful man haunted by his double. A disturbing mystery out in the summer. Please feel free to contact me on Twitter or Facebook. I have also have a blog, see the hyperlink. Regards and best wishes Saul |

Playing with Tigers; Broken | by S. Hart May 18, 2012 | 6015 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: S. Hart is a horrible soulless individual. Her bitterness is only surmounted by her passion for writing, and her attention to plot and dialogue, even if her work reads as if the reader is being thrown down a flight of stairs (Working on that.). Of the very few things she does enjoy, writing is by far the one that she indulges the most, usually putting in an eight hour day despite the lack of pay and the progressive insanity that it brings. She lives almost entirely on coffee, which she insists is a major food group, and will likely die of a caffeine overdose within the next ten minutes if her clumsiness doesn't get her first. As with many writers, she is extremely critical of her work. If not for the constant coaxing of friends, you wouldn't be reading this right now, because her work would still be sitting in the folder with the other four unpublished but completed novels that she's written in the last three years. There were more, but her unhealthy love of porn murdered the previous computer, and all were mercifully killed. Despite the nature of her most recent novel and her previously mentioned affinity for porn, most of her work is purely science fiction/fantasy based. Look for future releases from S. Hart within the year. |

10 Secrets to Getting Any Man You Want to Want You | by Lyn Kelley May 18, 2012 | 12478 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: As a Motivational Coach and Speaker, my goal is “to empower people move to the next level of success in their lives.†Many people have asked for more information about me and why I am qualified to motivate others. So here’s a little bit about me and how I got here. It all started back in Fresno, CA where I was born and raised. As a child I knew I had a calling to help people be happier and live better lives. I knew this because I was keenly observant of people. I observed people and how they lived their lives. At age 10 a friend’s family invited me to a musical show called “Up With People!†This show had a major impact on me, and brought up my passion to help people be happier. Although my parents didn’t care about my grades, I received all A’s in school except I always failed Oral English. I couldn’t get up in front of the class and speak. What kept me going in school was my desire for a career in the helping/teaching profession, so I could help others become more successful. The females in my family were discouraged from going to college, so higher education became my way of rebelling. I earned my B.A. in Education from CSU Fresno. During college I had some wonderful professors who took me under their wing and encouraged me to speak in class. I learned that I enjoyed teaching and actually had a gift that had previously been repressed. I went on to get my teaching credential and taught Jr. and Sr. High School for 7 years. I went from a shy little girl who couldn’t speak in front of the class to a big girl who couldn’t STOP speaking in front of the class! Teaching adolescents was an amazing experience! I found that I wanted to work with them more one-on-one, so I went back to college to become a counselor. I received my M.S. in Counseling/Psychology from the University of Miami and became licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist. Initially I set out to get a wide range of experience. I worked in a children’s psych hospital in dual diagnosis, managed a residential treatment program for severely emotionally disturbed teenage girls, did biofeedback therapy for a pain management center, and worked in social services in the areas of foster care, child abuse and family reunification. Once I became licensed I worked in a private counseling practice for 7 years. I specialized in relationship counseling. During this time I realized that coaching, writing and teaching were what I really loved to do, so I started writing books for healthcare professionals and teaching continuing education courses. I became particularly interested in the field of motivation and coaching and worked on this as a specialty. I founded GROW Training Institute, Inc. which is a coach training organization, and became a Certified Professional Coach. I then coached myself through my Doctoral Program and earned my Ph.D. in Health Science through a correspondence program. I can now freely pursue my true passions of writing, speaking, coaching and consulting! I have published 26 books and am working on my next one now. Many people have asked me what has most motivated me during my life? I believe that we all have internal motivation when we find our gift. My strong desire to help people become higher functioning, happier and more successful must have initially come from my internal desire to grow, learn, and improve my life and the world around me. It also came from my deep appreciation for my mentors and teachers who helped me overcome my anxieties and fears about success. It came from reading books by great self help/spiritual authors such as Wayne Dyer, Gary Zukav, Louise Hay, Marianne Williamson, Barbara DeAngelis and Tony Robbins. I have learned that it is fear that stops us most. We sabotage our own success due to our own fear of our own light. I want to help others overcome their obstacles and shine their light brightly, just as my mentors did for me. I now do business, relationship and life coaching. As a Business Coach, I conduct trainings for businesses, entrepreneurs, corporations and organizations all over the world. I do practice building consulting for mental health and medical providers. As a relationship coach I help people stop sabotaging themselves and create their ideal relationships. I work by telephone, Internet and face-to-face. If you are interested in receiving coaching or need a motivational speaker, please contact me! I wish you much success. The Haunted Mirror | by Drac Von Stoller May 18, 2012 | 452 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Drac Von Stoller's imagination and fascination for the Horror genre began when he was a little boy watching his favorite actors such as Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Bela Lugosi on his little black and white television alone in his dark room. Drac would watch these horror movies for hours and build model kits of his favorite characters like Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein and even the Munster's car from his favorite television series. Then as time went on and nothing was left to the imagination in the new horror movies, Drac still loved watching the old movies he so loved as a little boy. Then as Drac became an adult he decided one day that he would write a short story in the horror genre and let some of his friends read it and see what they thought. Drac's first short story was titled "Death in the Wilderness," which would be considered flash fiction but this would be Drac's test to see if he was destined to be an author. Sure enough when people read "Death in the Wilderness" they loved it but couldn't understand why Drac didn't keep on with the story but Drac knew all along that if what they read was so good then Drac has succeeded. This gave Drac the confidence he needed to keep on writing more and more short stories. The rest is history Drac has now written 31 short stories in the course of a 2 year span. Drac doesn't want to write a story unless it moves him in a way that he would want to read his own work and say any horror or ghost fan would not be disappointed. |
